Since I do not know how to post photos directly to this thread I am providing a link to my Photobucket pool album. In it you will find the case I made from Cocobola, Ebony, and tiger maple with a leather cover I use to protect it. I made this 20 years ago and use it for my Perry Weston cue which is also pictured. Its one of his very early cues that is 6 ebony points with cocobola and maple. Also pictured are the new Lonnie Wilber ebay joint protectors I just purchased. Lonnie made these custom for this cue except I had a silver ring instead of brass as the cue has- my mistake.

Perry Weston cue

I bought the Perry Weston in 1990 from Billiards and Bagels - Jim Oswald. It actually was delivered to the store and unboxed in front of me along with another one that was Snakewood but the same pattern. I wanted the Snakewood cue but could not negotiate an agreement on price with Jim. I bought this one which is 60 inches and came with one shaft. I have recently had a Hybrid Slim shaft made to fit it and play with it. The original shaft still has its original tip as I played alot initially but then did not play for about 20 years. The cue is like new condition with not dings or issues and rolls straight together and apart. Its my main playing cue and I will not sell it. I am in transition from playing Hockey(at age 61 my hockey days are numbered) back to playing pool. I think I can play pool for many years so long as my eyes and joints allow. I don't see very well after 2 eye surgeries but play an average game and have fun. Since I play in the retirement communities that I live in I am competitive with other guys in similar physical condition. If my eyes get to bad to play or my arthritis distroys my hands then I will be selling it.

Case construction details

The case is 35" long, 5.25 wide, and 2.375 thick. Its made from 1/2" 7 ply applewood plywood for the frame overlaid with 1/4 thick tiger maple, cocobola, and ebony to match the cue. The overlay veneer was sanded down about 1/16th inch after the inlaying was completed and the epoxy dried. Inside the top has a 1/2" thick foam pad covered in maroon velvet. The bottom is 1/2" applewood plywood inletted using a gunbarrel inletting tool so that the grooves match the taper of the cue and shafts exactly. The bottom half is also covered with maroon velvet. the storage compartment is about 2" by 3.25". I used a hand rubbed oil finish on it and wish I had used automotive clear coat so that the yellowing of the maple and darkening of the cocobola did not happen but whats done is done. At the time I liked hand rubbed oil. I may add a few coats of finish to it now as the 20 years has seen the finish dry our and age. The leather cover I stitched from Latigo in a maroon color. The big regret I have on the leather cover is that I should have made the handle better as its weak where it joins to the body.
