I think I have to be the most hot and cold player ever.
I played two matches against the same player today, a 100 point game of 14.1 and a race to 7 in 9 ball. I lost the 14.1 match 100-23. With a score line like that you would think that he ran a crap load of balls. Nope, I just couldn't get anything going, on top of that I had little to no chances, and by the time I did I was too much of a basket case to take advantage. Things were going so bad that I had to put my cue down and sit away from it just to make sure I didn't do something regretable lol,
.
In the second set of 9 ball, I won the lag and broke and ran a 4 pack. I broke in rack 5 and played safe on the 1 ball. I was left with a shot and I ran out. The same thing happened in the next two racks allowing me to win 7-0, with my opponent shooting only three shots.
From pathetic to perfect, go figure. I left after the second match as I didn't want to push my luck.
I can't wait to find some consistency in this game. Some days (or hours from time to time) everything is effortless, the cue ball goes where I expect it to and the object balls can't go anywhere but the pockets. Other days are a struggle. But the fact that I only play twice a week probably doesn't help. But I am buying a table in the new year which allow me play every day, which I am sure will help immensely.
Nonetheless I experienced this kind of thing last year and came out a much better player. What keeps me coming back to the table is knowing that in a year I will be better than I imagined. My worst days are much better than my average days last year and I always feel that I am improve week after week.
Sorry for the rant, I probably lost most of you after the first two paragraphs
. But it is always kind of cathartic to rant every once and a while.
