How a Gold Crown IV Saved My Life

I don't really see any need to arrest or cite a 78 year old woman for having poor reflexes. However, I really hope one's license gets revoked when something like this happens.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen a charge for personal property damage. I could also see "failure to yield" or "reckless endangerment".

We're all laughing about the overall craziness of the situation, but the reality is she could have killed someone. It's sad to think that she would have needed to do that before getting in trouble.

What's that Oliver Wendell Holmes quote... "Your freedom ends where my nose begins". If nothing else, her freedom to drive should end where my big ass glass window begins.

Good points and I agree that she shouldn't have to hurt someone before action is taken. My first choice though would be to see the system weed out folks who cannot drive safely.

Even if she's given tickets for this, she will probably continue to drive if allowed to do so. I wouldn't argue against giving her tickets, but I think part of the point of fines is to train us to improve our driving habits.

Unfortunately, if she's not competent to drive, I doubt any amount of trying harder will make her safe to have on the road. :(

So what kind of tables are you going to be buying for replacement? These tables will never be the same.

If my life was saved by a Gold Crown there'd never be mention of any other table even possibly being placed in my pool hall!

Hmmmm, I wonder if she was a Brunswick rep...J/K LOL

Officers do have the ability to confiscate a driver's license after certain violations and/or accidents and require that license holder to go for a driving test if the officer feels due to age or health conditions that person may pose a hazard to the public. The problem with your situation is still, it happened on private property. As crazy as it sounds, people don't need a license to drive on private property, they just need a license to drive to and from that private property.

That would have been awfully SH#$%# of her to wipe you out while sitting on the can.

I'm sure laugh about it now, but that had to be scary.

By the way, we had a lady try to drive through the pool as too. Shook up one guy so bad, he passed out. Of course, he almost got ran over.

I find it hard to believe that our finest in Blue could not find any offense to charge this woman with. Good hting you have uninsured motorist insurance.. :wink:Have her charged with malicious destruction of property, vandalism, not wearing seatbelt, just something. Now if you can claim she caused you uncontrolled bowel movements , then you might have something:eek:

Car Crash

Buy one of those cars, four (4) wheel spinners, chop the top off the car, and install a Gold Crown IV without legs on top. You could level it with manual jack screw type jacks.

I like the idea of keeping the table there just as a conversation piece but maybe off to the side lol

Heh, he might just be able to salvage the GC that got knocked over! After all, one of the legs at least was already removed...

And he'd have to - HAVE TO - put it in the same place as it was before the car bashed it. Along with framed photos of the incident on the wall nearby.

Sure would be a great conversation piece... har :)

Dunno. I've got 13 new Diamonds, and 5 (well, 1 is now roadkill) AMFs, the GCIV, and an old Diamond Professional.

I'll probably go for another 9' Diamond and a GCIV again. I much prefer playing on the Diamonds, but the GCIV is a favorite for a lot of customers.

Alternatively, I might just shut down that room where these tables were. Apparently the area is a liability. Use the money to buy new televisions or something. Who knows. I'll figure it out soon enough.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support. It's been fun participating in this thread. I don't know if this qualifies as a true "near death experience", but it is as close as I ever want to be. It's so bizarre that I just can't help but laugh.

Also, enough with the rep already! It's appreciated, but this is not what I want to have to post about to quadruple my rep points over night.

If you buy another GC, you REALLY should take a look at the GC V. It looks MUCH better than the IV, imo.

You make good posts and keep Crawfish on his toes. I think you should put your pool hall name , city and state in your signature.JoeyA

Never seen a GC V. Go figure.

I <3 crawfish. He's the greatest.

As far as advertising Shooters in my sig... naw. When I start a new thread you can guarantee I'm doing it with the intent to advertise. When I jump in a random thread, I'm doing it as just a normal pool geek. I like keeping those two as separate as possible. :)

Also, I hate signatures so much that they've been turned off in my preferences since I joined. Avatars too.
