I have been trying to figure out all the variations of billiards, in addition to 3 cushion, as I like to try out billiards shots in practice, but it seems like I keep finding references to new ones, and then I can never find an explanation of how exactly you play.
Search high and low all over the WWW and make sure your printer has plenty of paper and ink - keep your eyes and ears open for games people mention or mumble about - and of course get a large binder ready to keep all of your "findings" in -- documenting and organizing them. A great place to start is to get your hands on the book "Over 300 Ways to Play Billiards" that someone posted earlier in this thread. Warning: it becomes addictive "collecting" game rules

MrBond - thank you for the great Chicago Billiard Museum reference. Wow. What a treat looking through all of the works and words put together by not only historians but passionate pocket billiard players before us. My collection grows
