Last night, I played pool drunk and I couldnt make a ball. I mean, I missed ball in hand twice and it wasnt like I was hammered, just drunk. How do some players play drunk all the time?

I just can't remeber.

Practice....

It just comes from playing as you get intoxicated. Play while getting drunk often enough and your game will be right there, right up until you pass out!!!

I'm kinda curious too. I tried to play obliviated one night, and I missed the cue ball(yes the cue ball:eek: ) 3 times in a row. I calmly returned my cue to the rack and called it quits.

I can't testify for playing completely drunk, but I've played my way through small local tournaments while drinking. I have to focus a bit more during my practice strokes, but I play just as well. I find that I second guess myself a lot less and in turn miss fewer routine shots.

The Secret: Get Drunk, Stay Drunk

It is just like pool itself:

You have to do it regularly.
You will build up a tolerance for the stuff.

Some people consume large quantities, give no indication that they are drunk, and perform brilliantly.

Some funny stuff here.

I'm more than partial to a beer (or several) when I play & rarely suffer for it. I do remember playing snooker once though when the club I played at began selling a strong cider called Diamond White. A pal & I got through a load of the stuff then started to play. It seemed like there were loads of reds on the table, but then there are supposed to be a load of reds. When I saw there were 2 of each other colour I knew there was a problem!

Did make for an interesting game though.

A friend of mine went out to a pool hall with some friends, he had no plans of playing serious he just wanted to get wasted. I think it might have been his birthday. He proceeded to get hammered and he said that he remembers a guy barking at him trying to get him to play for some. He was so wasted that he blacked out. The next day he woke up with 150 in his pocket. He asked his friends what the hell happened. It turns out after the guy asked him upwards of ten times to play he finally said "lets play for 50 a rack I'll even give you the breaks." It turns out that my friend who is a B player ran out three racks on dry breaks completely drunk as a skunk.

Anything more than 4 beers and my play suffers pretty bad. Just start practicing and you'll get better at it, like drinking and driving! :p

Just kidding by the way.

I myself am the king of playing pool and drinking. If I get too drunk it will all depend on how I started the night. But right now my fall(2 man) leauge partner is a big drinker, which pressures me into drinking. It seems to be working. My spring parntner doesn't drink so I won't either, and I play with whatever skill my brain allows at that time. Sleep I found is the best helper in pool. I always try to close my eyes and lay down for at least an hour before leauge night.

People who play jam up when drunk are probably alcoholics and are drinking all the time. I personally know one player who has Budweiser in his veins instead of blood. You NEVER see him without a beer in his hand, yet he shoots fine, and doesn't act like a wasted weekend teenager would.

I've also heard accounts of world beaters running 100 or more while drunk, and have witnessed myself world class one pocket and straight pool play while the parties were heavily drinking. But these are guys who have a high tolerance for alcohol and are used to it.

If you aren't an alcoholic, and just get drunk on the weekends or occasionally, you shouldn't play pool in that state and expect to play well.

After 1-3 beers my eyes don't work well and my concentration is bad and I shoot badly. After 4-15 beers I usually play lights out pool. After 15 beers I mostly sleep...

Edit: no, I'm talking about the size of beers in my avatar :)

I don't have a good answer, but I drink through every tournament. The fact of the matter is, I love playing pool and I love drinking. And I've put an awful lot of effort to make sure I can do both at the same time.
