when you're waiting for a cue to be built? i just sent my deposit and sketches and ideas to dick neighbors and i'm already going nuts with anticipation. i've never bought a custom cue before and i haven't bought a new cue in 20 years. how do you guys who have customs deal with the wait? one of the guys i shoot with sipmly told me "the juice will be worth the sqeeze". i wanted to hit him a cue ball :) at least i have this on my side, dick said once he gets all the dimensions together and starts it will only be a matter of 10 to 12 weeks. i've seen some posts about being on waitng lists for years i.e. southwest. i guess i'll just start rocking and pacing like rain man.

I know exactly what yor are going through; I am waiting on a DZ cue.
Good luck.

probably wont be as bad as when its finally shipped and you make fedex your homepage and hit the track button 400 times a minute to see if it moved anywhere. You will end up like that guy in LOST who hits the button every 104 minutes lol.

i just got off the phone from ordering a RAT cue and its only going to be a 4-5 week wait and as soon as i hung up i was thinking about the day ups rings my doorbell! i was the same way when i got my downey!! that one took longer though. its just something you have to deal with! by no means was my wait time comparable to SW but i still called him every other week or so just to check up on stuff.

BTW, this is SSSSOOOOO true!!

Just keep yourself busy.. Dicky's cues are worth the wait. He is one of Cincinnati's good people.

12 weeks is not a long wait by the way... I waited 4 month for my Omen custom cue.

Other cue makers can take as long as 6-9 months easily, especially if they have a full time job/wife/kids and play pool.

Fedex... with your tracking number is just as maddening.... why does it sit so long in MEMPHIS? Are those people just that SLOW?....

it wont' be that bad? :embarrassed2: anyways, who's the maker of your cue?

dick neighbors out of ohio. i saw a few cues he made for chris bartram (in my sleep i play like him and have giant balls to bet big cash - then i wake up and realize i'm terrible and haven't had the nads to bet 10 bucks that water is wet) and loved the work. then i asked around on here and found out that dick's rep is solid, he makes good cues and the price and manufacture time would be more than fair. so i made the leap from 20 year old meucci to brand new custom.

right off the bat you're the one millionth person who says good things about dick. that's a big reason i chose him. people can't say enough about him and his work being first class. second i have heard the long wait times for other guys and that just wasn't something i was wanting to have. i don't mind 12 weeks but up to a few years just isn't my cards. lastly, have you been to memphis???!!!??? i've got good friends there and every time i go i can't believe h o w mu ch ti m e s l o w s d o w n.

12 weeks ?

I thought this had something to do with waiting on a custom cue.

12 weeks , I've played ahead sets longer than that. :)

Last custom cue cost me about 18 months and that was less than the one before that.

My second South West: three and a half years:) I hate to even think of ordering one now. You just have to make do the best way you can. I played a lot, and I mean a lot of pool the last six months and tried not to think about it. The day I got the cue was like Christmas morning. Hell, any cue I ordered was like that;)

Dick is a solid builder. You'll get exactly what you ordered & no doubt you'll love it. You won't pay to much & you'll get it on time. Cues are his job & he takes his work seriously. Sit back & relax, forget about your deposit. Every penny spent is worth it.

Coping is easy forget it, I am waiting for a Southwest, and the joke in my house is will I get my Medicare Card, or Southwest FIRST. FYI Both are due in 2012.

chris, thanks for taking the time to respond. like i said, i saw pics of one of your cues and liked what i saw. after everyone, including you now, gave high praises i made the choice to ask dick to make me a cue. i just hope once i get it i don't embarass his good name by shooting like crap with it:grin: keep up the playing can't wait to see ya in the box again on TAR.

oddly enough i've never shot in the memphi. i'll have to visit high pockets next time i go. usually i wind up eating at the barbeque shop, stopping by memphis drum shop and drinking with friends. sadly none of them play:(
