How do you guys handle the loud music at pool halls?

On the North Hill between Fife and Puyallup was a place called Baldie's Apartment. On league night they also had a wet T-shirt contest. Seems like it was a split level with the pool table on the loft. Giving a good vantage point for the amateur and semi-pro dancers. The music was loud enough that it seems like the balls were vibrating on the table. I didn't mind!
Ah yes my favorite was Cozy, Cozy from Everywhere. She wore Levi's that had a zipper that went from front to back. She could stand on her head and do the splits. Definitely looked forward to our away games at Baldie's.

Generally I'll just pack it up and go home.

Tournaments I opt to play are hosted by actual pool rooms, not bars with tables so respect is given to those competing.

I recall hearing of one top player who took a baseball bat to a jukebox.

The jukeboxes where I play are web-enabled. I have a playlist on the app on my phone. Sometimes people come up to me and give me money to help out. Usually old people.

So I'm curious what are some ways you guys handle the loud music from the blaring jukebox at the pool hall? I'm trying ear plugs at the moment anyone else got any other recommendations?
I used to play tournaments in a room around New Haven CT. Played a lot of M+M real loud. Don't have much experience with rap music but I kind of got to like it. If I hear M+M now it reminds me of that room, it's a good memory.

Hearing about that place makes me think that my place sucks.
No, 'it could be better' is how to define it.

Consider yourself lucky you have a place close. Plenty of users here on Azb that don't have a pool room within an hour of their home...and they own cars.

Remember: while the game is an amusement or distraction to you, the place you are referring to is some person's way of making a living...most likely PEOPLE, actually. They are there to make money and will likely make operational decisions based on monetary consequences.

Spend money there or don't. That is really the extent of your influence with the place.

Usually I’m banging my head to whatever they played and offering to pony up for the next playlist. Music is your friend, good for pool, good for the soul, great way to make friends. Often play the same role Bob J does (per his post above).

I once played Bob Dylan - It's alright ma on the jukebox and the bartender turned it off half way through. One of the customers said "what is this?" Not with anger, genuine confusion.
This one gets a different reaction. I can remember hearing it in the pool room for the first time. Was too funny.

I love it. If it’s good I just dance man. It’s a good warmup, gets me focused and loosens me up. Plus whoever I’m playing might consider me a bit crazy after and that’s fine with me. If there’s no music depending how I’m feeling or if allowed I’ll throw in some headphones

I do spend money there. And we will see how things go. I don't exactly have high hopes for the place. Under new ownership not exactly looking the best.

If it's the type of music, put in some money to play your own, if its strictly the noise then if possible ask the owner to turn it down towards your end of the hall. I was able to do this at my local hall, but had to ask the owner to turn it up...
