I think you are one of the nicest people on this board, I hope you don't mind me giving you some of my insights.
Then I would close up my bridge if I were you, you may say "well then I get a shorter bridge (bridge hand too close to the CB), and I can't get the power I need" and to that I say "well that hike of the stick (it coming out of you bridge hand and ending up in the air) is losing you just as much power AND is hindering your precision". I would also make the suggestion that you practice kicking from a place on the table where you can form your most commonly used bridge, why practice from the pocket?
It is my opinion that this is a bad line of thinking, in golf a 9yr old girl has a far better chance of hitting a 200yd drive with a good stroke than a 300lb monkey has of hitting 100yd drive with a bad one, pool works the same way.
Awesome, but just to organize this stuff a little better in your mind I would make the suggestion that you think of english and action separately; yes the "draw action" (bottom) is slowing the CB down, but if you are hitting the left rail from the right pocket right english IS running english, running english is not necessarily follow, some people may say that and 99% of the time we talk about running english it is probably going to be follow. But IMHO it isn't the best way to organize it in your mind.
Thanks:thumbup:! I struggle with that mostly on that open bridge,

shooting from inside the pocket, and being a girl I really have to pound the CB to get speed.

As you can tell, I was holding on to that cue as if my life depended on it. That day I was using bottom right to make my ball, which slows down the CB some. It's easier/better when I'm using running English which I actually learned existed the next day....
