OK, go ahead and throw the nutsack comments at me, lol. I like playing POOL with semi-dirty balls. Too clean, they wont take the spin. Too dirty, they take too much spin. I think slightly dirty is the best! What do you think?

Joe

when the cue ball is clean it draws very easy i dont like.
when the cue ball is dirty it bounces very hard off the rails.
so for me in the middle.

I used to think that tight cloth was the only reason the cue ball responded easily, providing the cloth is clean, but I don't believe that anymore. Sure the cloth has some effect on ball speed, but cue balls that are kept cleaned with one of the billiard ball cleaners move around the table with little cueing effort. You can draw the ball just like Spider does when he throws the cue :groucho: when the balls are kept clean.

Yup what Chris said!...it's a tough mix of wanting the ease of motion from a clean polished cue ball, without the unpredictable slip slide you can get from OVER waxed balls.

I actually like the numbered balls polished, and the cue ball cleaned with a magic eraser, but not waxed/polished. It gives the predictability of a clean cue ball, AND the spin rate of a waxed/polished ball....

Clean for consistency.
But I am usually too lazy to keep them real clean.

Since my table is outside in the humid Louisiana weather, they are sometimes Schwetty balls. (Thanks SNL.)
