How do you view the term 'Banger'?

I consider a banger a person that enjoys playing the game but isn't obsessed with winning, they just play, if they win or lose it doesn't really matter to them one way or another. They are not too concerned whether they play the correct shot or not.

Yeah, that is a good way to describe a banger.

Banger is generally used as a mildly derogatory term by pool aficionados to describe others less knowledgeable, skilled or enthusiastic about the game.

Right?

I used to think "banger" was two words...

I can't define the term "banger", but I know one when I see it in the mirror...

It's all relative. A pro might consider me a banger but I've had people in pool halls watch me play and ask me if I'm a pro.

BANGER ~ A derogatory term made up by someone who thought they were very good then got their ass handed to 'em by a good 'ol boy out for the night drinking beer, laughing,& joking with friends, and paying very little attention to the ass-whippin they were giving to the 'player' !!! LOL

I walk a fine line between banger and player. A player is someone who has to give me weight. A banger is someone who needs weight from me.

Hi all,

Looking for some opinions of how you view the word 'Banger'? I view it a bit ironically, but I don't know that is the general consensus. What I mean is I think it's more likely that someone calling themselves a 'banger' is actually a good player and a 'banger' is much more likely to dislike the term?

I ask for a fairly practical reason - I'm considering a business venture that involves billiards and am considering using this term in some way shape or form within the business name...

Would this turn you off, or would you view is ironically / sarcastically?

EDIT: To narrow down the question a bit, let me ask it this way. The business is not a clothing company, but it makes for a great question - Would you wear a shirt or logo that used the word 'Banger' or do you feel this is an insult to your skill, etc?

Thanks for your opinion -
