how easy/difficult is it to move a Gold Crown?

at some point I will be looking to upgrade my table. If I find a good deal on a used Gold Crown, what does it take to pick it up? Disassembled, will it fit in the back of a Grand Caravan with the seats removed? How heavy is the heaviest piece? Or am I better off to just hire a pro mover?

Each slate weighs around 250 lbs. iirc.
Take a set of allen screws ( fractional ). Unscrew all the pockets then remove them.
Unscrew all the blinds/skirts. This one is tricky as there are bolted plates in each corner.
Take down the ball return if there are any. Unbolt all the rails.
Unbolt the rails. There are two big screws at each end pulling the slates toward the center. There are more screws the slates are screwed onto the frame. The smaller screws screw the slates to the liner, which are not to be removed.
Pull the slates away from the center. DO NOT LIFT THE SLATES until all the dowels are cleared.
Disassemble the frame ( easy job ).
You're better off hiring a pro.

N-man,
I'm with Joey, hire someone to move it. I made the mistake of trying to move one myself - it was just brutal. The 2 strongest guys I know could only carry one of those slates about 6 steps at a time before having to set it down, every time with some risk of dropping it. It took forever, and was just not worth it.

The slates are so heavy you can hurt yourself and them. Hire a pro.

Pros have insurance, so if the slate gets broken, you don't have to pay for another piece.

I hired a guy to move a barbox into my ex-girlfriend's basement (what a women!). He had to cut the stairs out when it got stuck in the doorway. Then he had to rebuild the stairs. All of this was included in his original estimate to move it. I sat and watched. Then a few hours later, I played on it.

The price for moving a table is long forgotten. The price for a bad back can last a lifetime.

From my past experiences....do hire someone to move it....If you don't have a professional in your area check with moving companies. The pretty much know what they are doing with all kinds of things. I also understand that if one piece of slate is broken then the table is no good. You have to buy all three pieces. Understand I am not sure but I was told that the slate is cut into three pieces and those pieces fit together. If one is broken the other two are no good becaues if you get a new piece it won't match the other two. If I am wrong someone please correct me.
