How good was Bucktooth?

Has anyone seen Bucktooth play in his prime? How good was he? To hear him talk you'd think he was the greatest but I know that's not true. I sense he was 2 balls under the top players in one pocket back in the day but I could be wrong.

I can't remember where but I read a short bio about him growing up. It might of been in the book Playing off the rail, but it sounded like at one time he could hold is own against most good players on the west coast. I sort of took it as if he played at short stop level or maybe a little better.

It isn't that he was such a great player, as I understand it, but his game making ability that garnered him a lot of action.
