Once again the perfect hustle.
One of his favorites in his later years, if ya beat em in exhibition he would sell you a shirt for $10 that said "I beat Minnesota fats" that's pretty creative.
Once again the perfect hustle.
I was at the BCA show in Louisville one year and Fatty and I were walking around the show and looking at all the exhibits.
As we were walking down one isle, a beautiful small blonde women was walking toward us.
When she saw Fatty she came up in front of us and stopped.
She looked at Fats and with eyes blinking rapidly said " Why you're Minnesota Fats. Can I have your autograph ?"
Without saying a word Fatty took out his stamp and stamped her right in the middle of her pretty forehead.
She was so surprised that she just stood there like a Barbie Doll on overdrive.
I started laughing so hard I had tears in my eyes.
Typical Fats. He had the best comedic timing of anyone I ever met.

I have heard 100 times about Fats robbing Ritchie Flourence playing One Pocket.
Thats good enough for me.

I was there at Janscos right around 1970, Fat's picked his spots pretty frikkin good, and the big old bullfrog was just waitin' for the right time and wear out factor from Richie to slurp em down like a fly from a lilly pad.
Bill -
I wish I could go back in time and see what you have seen.
A friend of mine said that Titanic Thompson was there one year and making bets constantly. He said he was dressed to the T's, and had no shortage of cash. He said he was very old, yet very distingished.
I have been to DCC every year, and have been told it is as close as you can get.
