How does this guy work out all the kick shots? Does he just practice them more than anyone else or natural instinct? THis guy just kicks so accurately. I mean, even the cushions differ somewhat from table to table, so how does he account for this?

That doesn't work, I tried it. Bargained with the devil for a world class pool game. The next day I got a floating Basketball hoop and a pair of speedo's in the mail:p

Luck. Just ask him.

If I was raised from birth on full rack rotation and three cushion billiards, I might be a tad better than I am now at kicking.

Diamond system and he's played for ever. Plus he does get a bit lucky at times. Just ask Earl. Johnnyt

He just closes his eyes and hits the cue ball really hard. Or maybe he is just lucky???;)

Stones and belmicah are absolutely correct. I grew up playing 15-ball rotation on St. Thomas, and trust me--you WILL learn to kick when it seems you have to kick two or three rails to open just about every inning in the early part of the rack. About five years, ago a player friend of mine from New York who was living in St. Thomas at the time were practicing at Peg's Pockets in Miami, and just for the heck of it, I banged in a four-railer on the nine ball. One of the guys at the bar jumped up and said, "Whoa, who the hell is this guy? My partner simply responded, "Naw, that don't mean nothing. That's like a standard St. Thomas shot. Even the C players make it." And you know, he was right!

Obviously he read Mr. Bob Jewett's article in this months Billiards Digest. "Don't Blow It" Efren. :D

To answer the original question about the table conditions differing, he figures out very quickly how short or how long the table is playing, and he adjusts accordingly. Efren is so far ahead of other players in kicking, it's ridiculous. The next best two kickers are Nick Varner and Grady Mathews from what I've seen. Ralf Souqet gets an honorable mention, his kicking has really improved over the years.

You probably forgot to sacrifice a chicken, then hop on one leg in a counterclockwise motion in your underwear while reciting the mantra, "OwutaLoon Iyam!" :p
