How is this a Joss?

Not much I can add to that, except there were some Varner cues definitely made by Joss, for some time. The second one sure has the pattern of one of yours. There definitely was collaboration amongst Joss, Rempe, Sigel, and Varner.

I thought I saw it somewhere in your collection of devices.
Yup.

You can see the Huebler matches the butt sleeve of the NV-J-2 better, but similar design to the Diamond Series cue, sort of the reverse of each other.

I seem to remember those two brands being made by the same outfit as well.
Not exactly. Ernie Chen had his own shop in Canada and teamed-up with Dan for advice/knowledge etc. Tyler(Dan's daughter btw) cues were made by Ernie in Canada. Not sure what went south but they broke up and Ernie started Falcon and also made early Predator butts til they switched to Chinese factory. Ernie kept making Falcon's til the exchange rate and other reasons caused him to shut down Canadian oper. and move back to Taiwan. His co., KPS, is still making Falcon's as well as a OEM builder for brands like the Bear's that Bustamante used for years. Current site: https://www.falconcues.com/EN/views/home/index.php For Falcon fans if you click 'old magazine ads' at the bottom you can see brochures for the Canadian made Falcons.

Thanks for posting that link. I used to have that FA08 and had searched but never found what model it was. Beautiful, nice player but long gone of course.

With the recent discussions about the market, cue sales, flippers, etc, I ran into this and thought people might want to kick it around.

People are already bidding on it.

How is this a Joss?

Ebay Auction

The design on the buttsleve look very Jossy. If I was only shown this design, Joss would be my first guess.

Good info. I wasn't sure whether Falcon cues was still in business. They were pretty active in the early 2000s, I remember that. They were a sponsor in the tournament circuit I played, Planet Pool, which was in the Mid-Atlantic region. By teaming up with Dan, I wonder if any were built in the Joss shop early on. Otherwise, what does teaming up mean. I have no idea.
