There appears to be some NPR haters here. All I can say is, be patient. The inauguration of President Clinton will trigger a mass suicide and NPR will be reduced to 3 or 4 relatively sane members.
Why do I give a shit about building pool tables that look to meet your approval, better yet, why would I even care about building home style pool tables in the first place? I built pool tables for some pretty interesting customers in the past, like Dave Craig, Kenny Easley, Dave Brown, and Sherman Smith....all Seahawks football players, don't remember one of them asking me to build a piece of shit that LOOKED good, but played like a Valley coin op! That table you posted looks like it belongs in a whorehouse....IMO!
LOL.
The Victorian and Edwardian ages were a bit different than today.
If a customer had 40-50K to spend an a table I am pretty sure you would care greatly on making a table that met their approval.
Or would take a pass on the work?

I don't do work that I don't agree with, money has nothing to do with it.
I'll take your word for it. I've known people to turn away from work because it went against their principles.
Have you built tables for free when you felt the cause was right?
For Sale Section, Fast Lane.
A) $10 monthly fee allows a poster to post, bump, rebump...as many times as they choose to.
B) All sales threads an only have a 30 lifespan, after that they fall off, no more posts in that thread allowed.
C) Poster may only have 5 active threads at one time per month, but may purchase more thread posting ability at an additional per thread price.
For Sale, Slow Lane.
A) Free to post any items for sale, trade, or looking to buy.
B) No post can be responded to, OP must be contacted by PM.
C) No duplicate posts can be made within 30 days.
D) No double posting can be made, in the fast lane and the slow lane, pick one or the other.
Now, if anyone wants to flip their cues for sale, they can do so. They can bump them as much as they want in order to keep them on the front page, don't matter....but there's a fee for doing so.
The slow lane helps those that are just trying to sell something once in a while without it ending up on the 5th page down in the first hour.
Those are just some of my quick thoughts.

Your idea is not without a certain amount of merit.
There is too much spread between Fast and Slow Lane.
Unlimited Bumping, it wouldn't even take an hour to put the Slow Laners on the 10th page.
I don't think that people that sell regularly would oppose a small fee.
Not everything sold is pool cues. There might be a rare occasion that if you were to add a $10 fee, it wouldn't make it worth while for certain items.
There are members who sell high end cues. Members who may not make a living from sales but like to Flip regularly just to play with a cue, sell and buy another.
There are a couple or three different categories of sellers, maybe more.
So, you would have to be fair to all and be able to tailor different levels according to their needs. And you can't price yourself out of business either or people will stop using the Sales Forum completely.
There has to be a few advantages for the Slow Lane Sellers or you will leave them in the dust and they will disappear.
Fast Lane gets a few privileges, Slow Lane gets some but not as many, but make it worth their while. Obviously enuff that they don't feel left out totally and can still compete for sales equally.
You want to make it fair and equitable for all levels of Sellers. Or you will easily chase away a few and that is not the intended purpose.
Plus more complaints to field. Of course, no matter what happens, someone will complain. It's like the guy who gets a free hot dog or ice cream in the park and complains because they are not big enuff.
If you do provide solutions to people who are bent on being negative about everything, they will just dream up new problems for you and themselves.
One main problem with unlimited Bumping, is that Slow Laners will end up on page ten in an hour and there will be no way fore them to get back. Because if they have to wait 48 to Bump, they will make first page and the Fast Laners will knock them off promptly in order to keep theirs on the first and full view.
So many Bumps a day. That way if you use em up quickly, someone else will surpass you until after 12 am. That may not be great either but a start.
It's not that I am trying to figure out ways to knock your ideas.
By having 2 Sales Forums. You figure with all the different types of sellers, Power Sellers, a bit of Flipping, the odd cue once or twice a year. Probably a couple of other types in there.
That you won't be leaving some right in the middle. I think you could do one Forum and tailor the levels to match the Sellers.
I take it that your idea of Slow Laners, they won't have to pay any money. The Slow Laners might be the people who only sell one or 2 a year, just to thin the herd or make money to buy another. If this is the case, you have to remember that if they are selling and then turning their money back into the Forum, if you chase them away because on no privileges, you will also lose their money once or twice a year.
By throwing them into a no pay forum, you're kind of treating them like second class members and that may not be a good thing either. I mean, it would be their choice but still.
I just finished up not only rebuilding my customers GC1 for what I quoted the job for, but because my truck was broke down and Ford was waiting on the parts to fix it....11 days later, I refinished my customers GC1 from top to bottom for free because I was bored to death....does that count?
I also have a customer that I'm going to completely rebuild and modify the table up to the same level of production as a brand new Diamond 9ft Professional built today, in sponsorship of his son who is a great up coming player....for free, materials included....does that count?

See. This thread got deflected on the second page and is now nothing more than a back and forth regarding Glen's abilities working on pool tables. How many times has this happened in the past. So many that I can't remember.
And Glen thinks NPR members are crazy. This will continue on for a 100 pages if people continue to give Glen a reason to post back.
And Brian posted a Thread this morning wondering why AZB is going down hill. Cause of Shite like this. There is absolutely no info or redeeming qualities
in this Thread.
Actually that is generous of you Glen.
