two points i'd like to clairify. first, people seem to think, i can only play on bar sized tables, WRONG! i started at the age of 8 years old on a regulation sized victor table, in my uncle's basement in leonia, new jersey, back in 1968.

second, the chance's tournament was held at a bar in patchougue long island new york, in a bar owned by doug chance. these 8-ball tournaments were the biggest in all of new york. the bar was called chance's. the tournaments were held between april of 2001-to-june 2002. the biggest tournament they ever had was january 2002. 21 of the best bar table players, (by this time, which was almost a year since these tournaments were going on, all the "sharks" showed up, and anyone that was just so-so was no where to be found, the field was the best of the best, new york bar players.) the tournament was monthly. in january 2002 the pot including the calcutta was a record $2,600. never before in a bar, on long island was that much money pressure, or great players in one room, i won that, in sudden death.

hope i cleared up, some info, ~~~~as far as being a "B" player, i bet most readers here would kill for my so called "B" game.
i am a friend of "pool fool" here...he was showing me this forum and allowed me to post under his screen name...i have to speak for all the others in the rooms that bernie makes his "appearances"....first off let me say...i dont play the game anymore but when i did i was nothing special...high run of 73 in 14:1... high run of 5 racks in 9 ball... basically your average player...i still hang out in the rooms now and then but i just dont play the game anymore...i dont mean this a "personal attack" but i feel that everyone in these forums should know who they are "chatting" with...bernie is one of the most annoying persons to walk into a pool room ...when he walks in EVERYBODY rolls their eyes and lets out a sigh and counts down the time till he leaves...he is a horrible player....but he talks like he can actually play the game...after not playing but maybe 15 hours in the last 2 years id still get on the table with him and spot him atleast the eight and some games on the wire...but that would never happen cause he never plays for anything...yes you might say we play for the enjoyment of it...but ive yet to meet anybody who enjoys seeing him let alone play with him...just felt that he should be exposed for who he really is ...this is not an attack and i dont want "pool fool" to get admonished by the moderator for this...the truth is not an attack!!!

He used to post on here under the screen name "The Silencer". Anyone that was unfortunate enough to be here back then knows who he really is. He exposed himself. ;)

What were some of the names of the great players that were there? Who did you play in the finals?

Some were over 10 years ago, Some were within the past month, but most of them fall around 4-5 years ago.

One IPTer from New Jersey: Hopkins
TWO IPTers from the Philippines: Santos and Bustamante?

I beat an IPT member once at a local hanidcapped tournament. He was going to 12. I beat him 4-7! Here's a big hint...he looks like "the candy man."

Now that's what i like to see. People that want to play the game. Not people who are skeptical.

Vickery???

Philly boy turned Ohio boy... CD ;)

I wonder why this tread was started in the 1st place. The IPT may contain some Pro Players, but not all the players there are of Pro level; so playing an IPT member and beating them may not be such a difficult accomplishment to begin with.

excellent points as usual

Tap,tap
great question!
Inquiring minds want to know.

Cause i knew someone like you would chime in with something like that.
Figures. There is a doubter everytime.
LOL.
How many have YOU beat?! LOL.

What's your name and who did you beat? It's not rude nor is it taboo to say that you beat someone else on a public forum. If you beat all of those strong players, it's obvious you aren't trying to stay under the radar. I could sit here and say that I beat Efren giving him the 3-out, but without giving my name and being more specific, it's perfectly fair for someone to call bullshit. Catch my drift? ;)

This will sound odd, but what does it mean to have beat someone? Surely it doesn't mean winning a rack. Is it a set? When I played Mika Immonen five races to nine playing even, does winning one set count as beating him, 'cause that's all I won.

If winning just a single set consistutes beating an IPT player, I've beat nine of them. In eight cases the race was to seven or longer.

And, finally, I beat Mike Sigel in a nineball race to two at a charity event for Leukemia in 1992 just prior to the 1992 US Open 14.1 event. There was an auction to see who'd play him and I was the highest bidder. It was a great thrill for me when I beat him that night, even though it cost me some serious money to play him. Of course, that money went to a very worthy cause.

The difference here is he tells people who he is. You don't.

Is you not knowing who i am really that big of an issue for you?

Certain people on this forum know who i am.
Others don't. So what!
What does that have to do with anything?
Most of the people who DO know who i am, KNOW that i enjoy my anonymity.
Sorry if your one of the people that doesn't know, but oh well.

Your definitely not going to see me announce my name, and toot my own horn like i am the be all to end all of pool, cause that's just not the case, and that's not my style.

If you don't want to believe that i beat these people, then don't.
You don't really think that having your approval matters to me in any way do you?
Cause it doesn't.

So what about it bothers you? The fact that you don't know who i am? Is this list too unbelievable for you to swallow?
OR is this something else.
Your not still MAD at me for slamming you in the Saddam Terrorism thread are you? Cause if you've waited all this time to try and even the score, and this is your little nit-pick attempt at doing it, you've got some serious issues.

Wait, i've got it. Your still kind of sore at me, and as a result, would specifically question my ability regardless of how many people i beat to try and get under my skin so that you can get your jollies.

I don't know what your motives are, and quite frankly, i could care less.

This thread started out as a GAME!
If you didn't want to play, then DON'T.
But don't be like the little kid that's mad at others having fun, and try and ruin it for them.

Easy there SS. CT just wants to play the game, and it's hard to play the game if you don't know the person.

And if you truly wanted to remain anonymous, why play this game and draw attention to yourself?

jsp <~~ Wants to remain anonymous, so I won't reveal the IPT members I beat. :p

OK go easy on me!

I have beaten the following in COMPETITION, since that is what I took the question as meaning...

  • A young Dutch world class player
  • A Mexican WPC runner up
  • Top 8 finisher of the infamous Tokyo event )and ex snooker Pro)
  • Former Glass City Open Champion
  • Australian who finished 33rd in last years WPC
  • Current UPA No 1
  • A big US Money player
  • Former BCA Champion
  • Former Irish Champion and current Ocenia Champion
  • Ex Billiard World Campion
  • A famous AZ Ozzie

But like SJM, one set doesnàt mean that much even though it is competitive.

I thought it would be fun to see how many of AZB'rs have beat one of the
members of the IPT? and for the other AZb'rs to guess who it was they
beat? Of course, you have to give a hint about who it was, but not give it
away. Then after someone guesses correctly, you have to tell the 'story' of how you came to beat them.

This has to be in a tournament or a locked up money match, not just in
practice, or for 1 game, it has to be a match (set).

I guess I should go first, huh! Okay, I have beat 1 of the IPT members,
and he qualified for the tour through the qualifiers. That's the hint.
It was 9.5 years ago.

How about almost wins?:D
I lost a hill-hill 9-ball match against Shannon Daulton at the Lexington All-star tournament back in the 90's..
At the DCC, I've beaten several strong players. Not sure which ones are IPT.The 2 that caome to mind are... 2004, I beat Efren in the second round of the Bank tournament, and then lost hill-hill to Larry Nevel in round 3.
