how many cues do you own?

I own around 8 decent ones.
My player is a Gorgeous older Pechauer Prototype 1 of 3 #SP-13 with a brand new Predator Z2 shaft.
My alternate is a Muecci Gambler w/ black dot shaft that I had meucci make custom made chain link joint protectors and my breaker is a McDermott Mohave Spalted maple with leather wrap.
My home table cues include several McDermotts, Cuetec's and 2 sneaky Petes that are straight and play well.

It's not the cue or the price that makes the shots , it's about the machine that uses it.

I have 6 right now.

1 80s Joss
1 Bob Fry
1 90s Joss
1 D-19 McD
1 D-26 McD
1 Joss/West

Sugartree on order and dang near done.

i thought of doing a poll, but thats been done.

I honestly dont know, some guys might not want to put their biz in the street and I respect that.

MY honest answere is Im not sure, probably 12 monsters, 40 strong cues(player Szams some with a couple inlays others just 4 pt or 8 pt Tads, fancy SW's, Big Cantando's) and 30 more good solid players like (SW's, plane Tad's,plane Ginas) and 12 POS's.

its not really important, hell a good 6 cue collection I admer. I look at the state of mind of the man who bought them and what he was thinking or sadly not thinking(in my case a few times).

sINCE i STARTED THIS THREAD, I HAVE RE EVULAETED MY COLLECTING CRITERIA. SORRY FOR THE POOR SPELLING AND TYPING, I JUST GOT A NEW MACHINE AND ITS 216 AM AND IM NOT USED TO IT, AND MY SPELL CHECKER ISNT OWRKING, KINDA LIKE MY OLD POSTS LOL,

I OF COURSE HAVE CUSE THAT I WILL NEVER SELL DESPITE THEIR VALUE, OR PROFIT MARGINE I COULD MAKE ON THEM. tHEY ARE FAMILY AND THEY HAVE BEEN WITH ME FOR YEARS OR JERRY DID SOME WORK ON A tAD ONCE. ETC. tHOSE CUSE $$$ CANT BUY,

i AM GOING TO LET GO OF THE LOW HANGING FRUIT THE 1-5k RANGE CUES, i BOUGHT PROBABLY 70% OF THEM TO TRY AS PLAYERS AND ALL OF THEM TO SUPPORT CUE BUILDERS, I RESPECT THE TRADE ABD WILL KEEP BUYING NEW CUES, BUT RIGHT NOW I NEED TO KMOVE SOME WOOD JUST BECAUSE I'M OUT OF ROOM. LITTERLY AND MAY BE =MOVING, IF I GET THE HOUSE I WANT I WILL HAVE MORE ROOM FOR CUES. BUT I HAVE SOME CUES I CANT PLAY WITH-BUT ARE GREAT CUES FOR OTHER PLQAYERS FOR SURE AND ITS A WASTE TO HAVE THEM DOING NOTHING. sOME I'LL MAKE A $ ON AND OTHER S i WILL LOSE. iTS OK. MAN THIS KEYBOARD IS BRUTAL.

AFTER I TRIM THE INVENTORY I'M GOING TO BUILD A SPREAD SHEET OF WHAT I;M KEEPING-I SAID THIS YEARS AGO BUT I HAVE TIME NOW.

sO OVER THE NEXT FEW MONTHS-NOT SOOONER IM TOO BUSY, I'M GONNA BE fATBOY CUE COLLECTER/DEALER IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. BEFORE THE INTERNET I WAS A CUE DEALER, i KNOW THE GIG. iTS JUST NOT ENUGH $$$ TO SUPPORT MY HABITS(cARS, wHITE TRUFFELS-WHEN IN SEASON, FIRST CLASS AIR TICKETS), SO i CANT DO IT FULL TIME, BUT I DO LOVE THE BIZ AND MOST OF THE PEOPLE. i'M NOT A CUE FLIPPER-i NEVER GO TO BUILDERS AND BUY A CUE HLD IT FOR A WHILE AND SELL IT. i LIKE TO BUY FROM PEOPLE AND FLIP. WHEN I ORDER CUES FROM A BUILDER THOSE ARE KEEPERS-HENCE THE COLLECTOR IN MY TITLE. aND WAIT UNTIL YOU ALL SEE THE BUMBULL BEE AW i HAVE COMMING, wow!!! AND NO IT WONT EVER BE FORE SALE, IT WILL BE THE SHARPEST LOOKING NON-FANCY sw EVER, i NEED YELLOW CHALK TO PUT ON THE BLACK kAQMUI TIPS TO KEEP THE COLOR THEME RIGHT!!!! OOHH ITS HOT.

BEST'

ERIC :)

I JUSAT WANTED TO SAY THAT FROM 1986-2001 MY COLLECTION WAS ABOUT 12 CUES, AND IT WAS GREAT, iM N MORE PROUD OF WHAT i HAVE NOW THAN THEN. ITS NOT A CONTEST.

I LOOK AT A MANS COLLECTION AND IF THEY RE ALL 300-800$ CUES i WONDER WHICH HE GOT FIRST, WHAT HE PLAYS WITH, WHATS HIS FAVORITE, WHAT ONE HE WISHES HE DIDNT BUY, ETC. yOU CAN BE PROUD OF A COLLECTION AS A BIG COLLECTION LIKE I HAVE.

SOME GUYS WONT UNDERSTAND THIS AND I;M NOT GOING TO EXPLAINE IT, BUT IF YOUR LUCKY TO COME INTO $$$ LIKE i DID, AND YES IT WAS LUCK. sOMETIMES HAVING ALL YOUR EGGS IN ONE BSKET ISNT SMART, cUES ARE A NICE WAY OF TAKING CHIPS OFF THE TABLE. sURE ITS WONDERFUL TO OWN THEM BUT THE LOVE ISNT THERE LIKE IT IS FOR A 12 CU COLLECTION THAT COSTS 8,000, OR THE LOVE A MAN MIGHT HAVE FOR OWNING ONE $8,000 CUE.

wHEN THE COLLECTIONS GET HUGE THERE ARE OTHER REASONS FOR OWNING CUES, AND THATS THE PART i DONT LIKE. /BECAUSE i KNOW SOMEONE WOULD ENJOY A CUE i OWN MORE THAN ME. yEAH THEREIS SOME GUILT WITH THAT,

DAMN THIS KEYBOARD IS BRUTAL,

I CANT TAKE ANYMORE,

GOOD NIGHT GUYS AND GIRLS.

ps i KEPT SAYING GUYS COLLECTING CUES, I MEAN BOTH THE BOYS AND GIRLS.

BEST
ERIC:)

LP Custom Hoppe Style cue on order and almost done! :)

Fun thread. I have four at the moment: 3 pool cues and 1 snooker cue. I have another pool cue on order, and will likely order another snooker cue in the near future (because I like even numbers... yes, that must be it).

I own 1 jump break cue at the moment. Sold my 2 playing cues premature to family. But the old man still lets me use the predator until my cue comes.

I the past year I decided to sell most of my cue collection and keep only the two that I play with (two Black Boars that I purchased within the last twelve months). Needless to say after selling all those cues...I also purchased some more. So here we are:

2 Gus Szambotis
1 George Balabushka (original)
2 Tim Scruggs
1 Schon (R-6)
1 Meucci (box cue)
2 Black Boars

All the above cues are old school cues in great condition.

In addition I acquired the following cases to house the above cues:

5 Fellini cases
3 It's George
1 Engles

I've downsized but upgraded at the same time...some things never change.

I knew that was just a ploy so I would buy all your cues:thumbup:

Anyway, I have about the same "core" 10 that I will have a hard time getting rid of and then another Who knows how many that I cycle through pretty quickly:D What can I say....I like cues

Hey, as Al Pacino said in the God Father III..."Just when I thought I was out; they pull me back in.

I'm pretty sure this is it...lol. Although you have come a long way grasshopper.

I have 2 cues a McDermott star cue and a j&j j/b cue. I keep looking at all these great looking cues and want them all. But only got the two right now... I'll just keep on looking at the great cues on this site till I find one I need to have or have one built...

I have an 03 Runde full splice: 4 ebony points in birdseye, leather wrap, and lots of ivory. Also have a cheapy Gino Ferrari break cue. In the market for another nice cue and a carom cue in the near future.

Cue collecting is fun, even if they arnt my cues I enjoy my friends cues too. Its fun to look at cues and all the thought and detail that went into them.

And the the other side of the coin where some cue makers are grinding it out becaue its a living and its what they know, that shows up in some cues as well.

I screwed up because i like cues, i had a Gus i had built for me in 1982 that my father thought i was crazy for paying $1250.00 for and i played it for 19 yrs and sold it to Mark Griffen for $6300.00. I had a Barry that i paid $2500.00 for and had a year before selling it for $3500.00 to remain married(which i did not) I had a Schick i paid $2500.00 for that the owner wants $4750.00 for now. I had a Bender that i traded a charter fishing trip for and $1000.00 that i sold to a friend for $1800.00 dollars that was the prettiest cue i have seen. If i still had the gus and barry on paper they would be 25-30 thousand. I have never really lost money on cues, I have sold most for what i paid for them but I have played them for a yr or two. I have owned a Kiekel that was very unque, a couple of Perry Westons, a Gina a Eddie Farris which is for sale now I will have 2 JR full splice which are simple but the one i have is sweet. John Bender is building me a cue now as is Hercek and I am on Southwests list for 2012. Perry Weston has a sweet piece of wood that is in the design process. I did sell a Fisher for less than I paid for it but not due to any fault of the cue if id of changed the tip on it it would of been great. I have determined to keep cues that i have sent the wood to the builder. The Hercek will be the only cue I own that i did not supply the wood for. The Searing I own Dennis had the wood for 5 yrs and he told me that NOT ONCE did the wood move from the first turn to the last and it went through 4 hurricanes. I wont say I wont ever part with the Searing as I do not have children but the Gus and Berry taught me a lesson.
