how many cues do you own?

I'm up to 30+ (edited) now. My woman isn't liking my addiction too much but she understands it. As long as there is still money left over to travel and take care of future considerations (bills is a no-brainer). She figures it is my one vice.

Highlights:

7 Scruggs (one of which is my everyday player)
A really special Blackboar engineered 1 of 1 Phillippi (plus a couple of R. Phillippi Jr. bangers)
2 High-end Carolinas
2 amazing Sly's (1 Sly was stolen so it's down to 2)
A Franklin SW and Joss West (sold both recently... probably stupidly but I wanted to buy an engagement ring)
An Ivory monster Kornell
A Snakewood monster TNS
A handful of Thompson originals
A Lambros Masterpiece
An awesome Black Boar that you couldn't pry from my cold dead fingers.
A couple of solid Varney's.
A Jackson Custom
A Meucci HOF that my pops uses
A few other POS Bar-beaters not worth mentioning

Cues on order or in the works:
Varney Lakewood.... the tonal properties of this cue are going to be Stradavarious-esk.
Looking to drastically thin out the herd and only keep the Scruggs and Black Boars

r,

Greg

Since I started this thread about a year ago, not much has changed for me. I might have the same number of cues, I did a few trades but thats about it. I'm in 90% of my cues for what I could sell them for fast God forbid I had to. Some I wouldnt ever sell, i would eat dirt first.

I screwed up and sold a cue for about $4,000 less than I paid for it, the guy seemed a little to happy with the deal, i couldnt find my notes on it. about 6 months later i discovered the mistake. Oops:embarrassed2::embarrassed2:

Other than that blunder i'm ok,

i'm very content with what I own, I still have no clue how many cues it is. I have them all memorized (except the one I sold for less than I paid, WTF was I thinking) They are all in a storage vault thats a 20 minute drive from home so I wont be making a count any time soon. If I ever do I'll post it.

I have about 4 or 5 cues I am gonna sell this year. and I know I'm buying one soon as its finished. Otherwise i'm not making any moves on cues. Unless something pops up I really like.

Before reading this, I really thought I didn't have shit. But, after reading everybody's posts, I am not doing too bad. I have actually knocked it down by a cue or two recently. So, right now I have six cues. Before too long(hopefully) it will be seven though.

Black Boar RS-4---best player I have ever hit. (Thanks for the help, Fatboy)
Mikie Stacey pj----This cue plays lights out as well, and is a great backup.
2Pechauers----One was my father's, and the other was bought for me by my
father. He died 6 years ago, so they will always be with me.
2Mcdermotts----Both older cues, and both bought by me when I was in my
teens.
1Audrick-----This one will be one of my kids first playing cues.

Obviously I cannot count since that makes 7. There are some I wish I had never sold, and others I truly do not miss. Had a TS hustler I REALLY wish I still had. Cue was a stone, cold playing machine.

This seems to be the best basis for a collection -- holding onto cues that have some personal meaning. Sorry to hear of your loss. When it's someone close, six years is a short time.

I'm similar, so only have a few cues, but I've never sold one either! Still have my first custom cue (1978 Joss East ordered from Dan Janes for me by Toby Sweet), two Barry Szambotis (both special, but for different reasons), a Titlist conversion by TNS/Tommy Migliore, and an old house cue converted into a two-piece by Tim Scruggs (not sneaky though, metal joint and wrap).

I only buy cues from makers I like and consider good people. Have had the chance to get introduced to some other great cuemakers to have a cue made, but I tend to go back to people who -- I'm lucky to say -- have become friends.

I have 34 and ONLY 16 are Tascarellas, 2 Gus Szamboti, 1 Barry Szamboti, 1 Searing,2 Tuckers,1 Scruggs,1 JW ,2 Scruggs,1 Mottey,1 Verl Horn,1 Doug Bourque, 2 S Series Schons, 1 Bill Mc Daniel before the MC on the butt and gotta have a couple Dale Perry.. I still need a few more Tascarellas and on the list for another Searing and a Showman. I thought about selling a couple but.....
