How many days are in a week?

Okay everyone! We get it! The players didn't recieve the checks the second they got knocked out, or the second the tournament ended!

So many people are on here complaing non-stop about the players getting their checks! Yet, so few players are saying anything!

Why is this?

Bernie is the only player I see speaking up, and he seems more mad that he lost and won't return to the IPT again because he wont ever qualify.

He (Bernie) and others as well are complaining about the 3 weeks they've waited. I've got news for ya folks, it's been 10 days! JUST 10 DAYS!

I'm sure that the whole IPT didnt rush back to headquaters and start writing checks, how can you think they did???

It takes time to break everything (tables, lights, signs, etc) down, and unlike the players, they're job isn't done the second the last match is over.

Do you think they didnt take a day or two or three off, after organizing, running, and then breaking down the largest event in pool history? Do they have to work on weekends when there is no tournament? Realistically, they may have only been back to work for a few days.

Not to mention, the TOUR DIRECTOR JUST HAD A KID!!!!!

Think they may be making sure all t's are crossed and i's doted? I'm sure Efren doesnt want to get Bernie's $5000 check by mistake becauce they rushed! They have to make sure everyone gets what they are supposed to.

And yes, there must be tax forms to go with everything! KT is most certainly writing this all over, he's not here for us, the players, the spotlight, or any of that... he's here for the CASH! And he will get his cut first!

No! the IPT shouldn't have made stupid excuses about the checks, and when and where they are supposed to be or were supposed to have been.

You've never told the gas company the check was in the mail, while in reality, 50,000 things were going against you and it was beyond your control that you never sent the check... but ya made good on it, and ya still got heat... They don't have a forum all about how you lied and the check wasnt in the mail so you should freeze forever; goin around the gas company.. do they?

I am very good friends (and proud to be) with a tour member, who is in the top 100. He hasnt recived his check yet, and needs it, but realizes its only been 10 DAYS!

I am not sticking up for the IPT! They are wrong, and the players SHOULD have been paid already, but look around, and be realistic... it's only been a few days!

The world open STARTED 18 days ago, and ended 10 days ago

7 DAYS TO A WEEK PEOPLE! AND ONLY 5 TO A WORK WEEK!

IT HAS ONLY BEEN 10 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Technically they've had 19 days. The tournament lasted 9 days... they had that amount of time to get them there. They were able to cut checks in Vegas so why not as soon as they got back to Chicago? (you don't really think the IPT staff was breaking down the tables do you?) If the checks not being in Reno was an honest mistake, they should've made an announcement and getting the checks out should've been their first priority. Regardless of how many days it's been, it's beyond unprofessional to not make an announcement, at least to their players.

Time passes very slowly for the professional struggling to make ends meet, the one that dished out more in expense money than they could afford simply because they believed that they were assured of a minimum and prompt payout from the competition.

When you're a professional waiting for a check that may determine whether you can meet the next rent invoice or car payment, every day you wait seems like a week.

Hence, by my calculations, the players eliminated on Day 1 of IPT Reno have now been waiting 18 weeks for their checks, and that's a crying shame.

No, they didnt have 19 days! know one knew, who, was getting how much, or even how much the payouts were going to be!

Each ball changed the payout!

Who do you think was there making sure all 50 diamond tables, the plasma tv's, the balls, sardo racks, etc... were broken down and moved properly?
Billy the janitor? or the IPT staff?

And the tournament lasted 8 days!

You know there are only 9 balls in 9 ball.. right? Need any more help with your counting?

If they were eliminated on day one, odds are they're getting a heck of a return on their investment.... prolly 4 to 1...

2 nights (at most) hotel (players meeting, and their day one elimination), food for 2 days (which they would have to eat, no matter where they were, and they're tons of $10 buffets) and air fare... so.. lets say, $1200-$1500 (and thats going over the top).

I'll gladly spend $1500, if I know sometime in the next month I'll get back $5000

Billy the janitor? or the IPT staff? I was recently at the billiard expo in Baltimore. When the expo was over, the vendors left. Some even left their wares and contract workers came in and started packing things up and taking the set ups down. This was the BCA expo and the BCA employee's were all wearing the same shirts... none of the contract workers were wearing those shirts. The IPT staff does not put up and take down the equipment. A crew(s) is paid to do this.

And the tournament lasted 8 days! 8 days, 9 days... talk about nitpicking. Sorry, I wasn't there so I'm off one day.

The IPT had 8 days of tournament play to get the checks to Reno. It's been 10 days since the tournament. The players might've only waited 10 days (and counting) but the IPT had MUCH MORE time than that to get things in order. They've had 18 days to date to get things in order and make an announcement to the players on when they can expect their checks.

If there were problems with the checks due to the new payout system then that should've been said in the players meeting. Did you happen to see where one of the players on this forum said they were having to rob Peter to pay Paul until the check comes in? The expenses incurred for the players during that week might not be much to you but it might be a lot to someone else.

You've got a handful of posts and you come on here like a bat out of hell defending the IPT with no regard for the players and their situation whatsoever....makes one wonder just who you are.

I don't buy the reason that they have to write down each check individually and that they had to wait until the last day of the tournament to write it down.

i would think that they would have these things automated and computerized by now. as soon as a player gets eliminated, they already know how much that player will get paid. Their website gets updated all the time. How come not the payroll manager?

besides, even if they wrote the checks down manually, they would know that one check should be for 500,000, another for ...how much second place gets, third place, etc. down the line. they probably know that so much players would get eliminated the 1st day so they should prepare that much checks for the amount promised, etc.

i can probably understand that mistakes can be made and someone could have screwed up, but not after KT made such a big deal on how the IPT would be professional, that it would be different from other smaller tournaments, that it would pay the players as soon as they get eliminated. he even alluded to other pool tournaments where unscrupulous promoters cheated players out of their winnings.

They are trapped in the stone age. The have 1 accountant down in their basement counting out $3M in pennies to make sure they have all the money they said they did.

Checks, what checks?

I'll say this once more. This delay in making payments has nothing to do with the location of any checks. PERIOD!

If you are buying that story, you are one of the most naive people on the planet. I don't need to be an accountant or comptroller or actuary to know this to be true. This delay is all about the money, or lack thereof. And whether the IPT will continue to exist.

I for one never bought into all the ballyhoo and "guarantees" that Trudeau was selling. From day one, I told every player I talked to, get (win) whatever you can while the IPT is around. Because all the talk about a two year plan or longer was just that, talk.

A few players have made some money, but many players have turned their lives upside down to try to make it on the "Tour". I feel for them if it all disappears in an heartbeat. And it could. That's the bad news. Yes, I would be pleasantly surprised just to see the players get paid for Reno.

Forget about Chicago or Vegas or 2007. Just pay them the three mil please.

Ms. Bullet,
You missed an important step:

It take a long time to count out in order:

1 Efren
1 Rodney
1 Mika
1 Oliver
1 Dennis
1 Corey
.
.
.
0.000001 Bernie

Last month I ran out of checks. The bank issued me 20 bank checks in 5 minutes. I had 300 in a week at my door. All they needed was ONE check for 3Meg that would clear and the casino would have been happy to unleash 150 flush gamblers on their temple of action.

You mean people are still paying to enter these? I could understand people being willing to fork out 2 grand if the IPT had come up with better excuses and if they made an announcement. With the way things currently are.... these guys must have a decent amount of expendable income.

Help me out here.

What harm would it be for you to reveal the name of your friend in the top 100? If you have no fear that he/she will be paid in the very near future.

Secondly do you get paid once a week possibly on Fridays? If so and Friday comes this week and your boss comes to you and says hey kid we ran outta checks this week so we are going to have to pay you next week or the following week or whenever we get the checks. What do you say to your boss? How does this make you feel?

Yeah but I don't recall ever seeing two players match up when one of the players knew, or at least suspected that the other was firing air... ;)

Last weekiend there were 10 qualifiers world wide, and 43 entrants.
