How many of you steal chalk from the pool hall?

I can honestly say that I do not.

I always use my own, be it Outvsille, or Predator, or whatever brand I've happened to get last. That goes in my pocket, not on the rail.

I do grab a few pieces of Masters when I go to our league Tri Cup tournaments, the League Operator has a box there for folks to grab some. I have those in my bag for the times when we play somewhere and there is no chalk for my teammates.

I just bought two dozen. Paid twenty dollars plus for them. I keep two pieces in a sandwich bag in each cue case. I throw my old ones in the chalk bucket at the pool hall because what is in there is horrible. Why don't pool halls sell chalk? If you bought two cubes and left them in your case, they last a long time.

Why don't pool halls sell chalk?
The same reason that a restaurant doesn't charge for the glass of water. Chalk is a consumable. It's cost is factored in to the rent of the table.
Back in the day when I played tournaments every night of the week, I would circu)ate chalk. If I encountered multiple cubes of chalk on the rail, I would confiscate the nicest piece. (Or 2) Then when I encountered a chalk less table, I would donate the confiscated pieces. 🤷‍♂️
I recall on one occasion an opponent got their panties in a bunch. They left Their personal cube of Masters on the rail. Along with 3 others that were the same. When I noticed his frantic search for His chalk, I removed it from my watch pocket and returned it to him. Only to be verbally harangued as A Thief. It was futile to explain my recirculation program as he was So Offended that His chalk had been in my pants. 🤷‍♂️ So I confessed to my chalk stealing affliction and vowed to get professional help. The gallery found it amusing, not my opponent. Perhaps this would have helped. 1739887314240.jpeg

I did on one occasion find a high dollar cube on the rail. It's owner was a real arrogant tool. It didn't go into my pocket. It found a new home via the pocket of the table. The table mechanic probably got it when the table got recovered. 🤷‍♂️ It was amusing watching "the search". 🤷‍♂️
Don't be A Dick as there could be an occasion where you could use a little help. 🤷‍♂️ Ah Life's Lessons.

I did on one occasion witness a funny exchange over chalk left on the rail. At a Big Boy 2 day event, all participants carried (Their Own Chalk). One player left his chalk behind and it was returned by the incoming player in a polite fashion. The second offense had the incoming shooter channeling Nolan Ryan. 🤷‍♂️

Dang, I need to clear my conscious now. Forgive me father Reyes for I have sinned. I took a hamdfull of Master chalks over the years when traveling and I knew if I did not have a good peice with me I would be in some random bar with a sliver of red chalk and nothing else to use.

On the other hand, more than once I have left a good peice of Blue Diamond or something at a pool hall, once even left a nice pewter holder with it that cost over $20. I think overall, the pool halls are ahead with my chalk taking/leaving ratio.
