How many pool players and fans?

I have seen a number somewhere for about how many pool players and fans there are in the world. Anyone know or can you point me in the right direction? I have just finished a novel about a pool playing PI and my agent wants to know. Thank you. JohnnyT

BD had an article about it I cant remember the issue but I think it was like 50million in the US are Rec Players and there was like 150 million in the world that play. You have to see the article for the exact numbers but check with BD they should be able to point you in the right direction.
 
The number I remember is that 42 million Americans play pool.

Do a search on the BCA web site...they talk about a study that was done and give some highlights. It is the same thing that was talked about in BD. To get all the info cost like $100 though. I say we all chip in like a buck and share it. :D

I'm pretty sure I can spare a buck.... I'm not one of those welfare broads who doesn't know who their baby's daddy is or whose baby's daddy is locked up. I'm pretty sure I can still live a normal life.

And if 20% of that 42 M donated at least $1 a month towards the sport (a year) the pro tour players would not be living below the poverty level. Something to think about.

$8.4 Million a month is a decent take. Would this be split between the men and women?!
