i usually use this aim point i have three pattern like picture below in aiming OB to pocket
but sometimes i nearly make a shot sometimes undercut/overcut a shot

i cannot estimate or make a 3/8 and 5/8 cut in a OB see this picture below

i want to get idea or advice where do you aim or how many aim points do you use at OB cut...im stress finding the contacts points its hards to find and to hit the exact contact points in right cuts..i read in internet that they have automatic aim and angles familiarization,,,shall i move or change my aiming system stick aiming i use,,,and go to the other technique like CTE pro one that no contact points to find,,,,and othe aiming system

I don't have spots/points, I used to aim like that telling myself " that that the spot to hit it.....there the spot to hit it" Well sometime I make them and mostly miss. I stop doing that the day I met Hal Houle. He told me there is no spots/points to aim at, they are same as guessing. So Hal taught me the A,B,C and Edges. A,B,C are mostly to make all shots and sometime if got a somewhat hard then got very hard angles....gotta use the edges.

A,B,C are same as Left Quarter, Center, and Right Quarter....and gotta use edges. Only thing hard to learn about this system is recognizing the angles and knowing which one to hit at A,B and C also sometime Edges.

I would say that nine would be correct. But how I see its about creating angles.
Just like banking the line to the rail is important but what is created off the rail is what one should seek.

On a very thin cut that hard to aim just looking at where to shoot it to make it a thin cut. What I do is a pivot shot routine then shoot.

Most of the shot I line up center cue ball and aiming at A,B,C AND EDGES but on a thin cut shot instead of starting off aiming center cue ball depend if it is left or right.

Left thin cut-I aim my cue stick one full tip to the left off center of the cue ball and aiming at the right edge of the ball then pivot to center and shoot.

Right thin cut-I aim my cue stick one full tip to the right off center of the cue ball and aiming at the left edge of the ball then pivot to center and shoot.

I aim base on Hal Houle system sighing on angles and knowing which A,B,C AND EDGES ON CERTAIN ANGLES along with that system I am using my cue stick to be accurate that where the cue ball going to go and hit.

Stick aiming help me break down how much of the cue ball and what less of the cue ball is use for certain shots. Since thin cut shot not using much of the cue ball, I line up for edge of the cue ball to edge of the Object ball then pivot to center, So I know when I am hitting center that edge of the cue ball going to hit at the edge of the object ball. If you try this, you'll see that where you going to hit is not or look like not going to hit the object but it will. Hope this help.

I don't use any aim points. None on the CB, OB, or Stick. The only points I use are aiming the center of the OB at a specific and discreet part of the pocket. When the shot looks right to me, I know I'm good. I don't use systems of aim. I'd be considered a "Feel" player.

Perhaps by this logic, I have an infinite number of points available to me.

I see the contact point on the OB that sends it to the target/pocket. I then look at the center of the OB and study the distance between the two. I then double that distance to the outside of the contact point and send the center of the CB there.

When the CB and OB are close together it is easier to line up the contact point on the OB to the contact point on the CB and shoot the center of the CB on that aim line.

There are no finite fractions involved.

I hate "FEEL" cause it kind of guessing and not sure basically to me. I can't just look and feel at it cause then I don't know where the cue ball really going even though in my head that where I wanna go. I used to see at point and get down and shoot it and damn I miss. I used to not look down on at my cue stick looking where it hitting and aiming, so I misses a lot. I feel using my stick as a gun....You got the 1st sight on it then second sight on it to aim at the spot....if both aim at same spot, then it will hit the spot. That How I feel using my stick is aiming through my stick center cue ball to sighting that where it going to hit.

I don't like the whole center to edge aiming system, feel system, contact points and ghost balls......it all guessing systems to me.

Aiming is a guessing game.Once you teach "The mind's eye" it becomes a small guessing game.Establish a connection, its all you need.
The problem with some aiming systems they put your eyes in a bad way to learn the correct picture. It needs to be simple ,through trial and error the simplest of things can make your pocketing abilty grow.

At the top of your diagrams you give 48.6 degrees for a 1/4 ball hit; 30 degrees for a 1/2 ball hit and 14.5 degrees for a 3/4 ball hit, but you cannot hit the CB center ball because CIT will reduce those angles.

thanks for all the comments thanks AZBILLIARDS forum i think this is the beginning of my pool stragety i learn a lot from this furom...even im 3 months from now playing pool i think more and more improvement will be change in my previous game style..i got a system thanks sir theUBC (Ekkhard Schneider-Lombard)

I use my fingers to help guid mne when unsure. The index and middle open to 30 degrees and if it's less then the A (3/4), if more the C (1/4). Works for me.

PS I refer to it 1, 2, 3, straight and edge. But I like the letters so I can use my clock system or calling the ball number...

If you can identify 4/8 you should be able to identify 3/8 and 5/8.

You need a system to identify these three angles. Once you get it, this system is like deadly.

Identifying 1/8, 1/4, 7/8, and 8/8 should be easy for you.

Use image two, but create a spot llike image one and remember them.

Good luck!

I aim same way how Randy do it, but I learned off Hal who was great and very to the point of doing it.

I aim base on how angles look to know which is LEFT EDGE,L2EFT QUARTER,CENTER,RIGHT QUARTER AND RIGHT EDGE. Randy got 4 but that work for him and for me I got 1,2,3,4, and 5 to aim at.

I learned from some of the good players and Hal(which I was lucky to meet him)
