Action Challenge: Prince Billah & Joeya
------------------------------------
AH! Information from someone who KNOWS! Isn't that a fresh breeze of air?
The Prince's presence does far more good than harm. I am glad you made this post, since you are one of the few in the know. It is great that the Prince genuinely puts in the man hours to play this sport and others. It is great to know that he is capable of stringing racks together.
I probably play about the Prince's speed. On occasion I can run a rack or two. If you set up a match between the Prince and I, we can have JCIN and company do the Action Challenge thing online (www.theactionreport.com) and I promise not to dump no matter how much money ANYONE offers.
We could even play an all around, including snooker which I have never played. That would put the Prince and I on even more level playing field since I'm sure he hasn't played much one pocket. Sure, that sounds pretty good, some 10 ball (instead of 9 ball) since the Prince reportedly has a stronger break than I, some one pocket and some snooker but all of that is subject to negotiation.
I would bet that WWW.THEACTIONREPORT.COM would have to bring in some heavy-duty equipment to handle all of the traffic with that match.
Bring it on!
JoeyA
Edited: To reflect that JoeyA knows that the Prince can high-roll him and I don't want the shakes so no betting allowed unless its between AZers.
pro9dg said:Nice one Jay! Good to see some sense among the garbage. I have known Prince Billah for many years. He originally played snooker and when 9 Ball caught his attention I provided him with cues, coaching, practice partners and tournament opportunities. He takes his hobbies pretty seriously. They include Badmington which he plays to international standard and he also has his own soccer team. Unfortunately it is the only one in Brunei so they play in a neighbouring country league.
He takes his pool seriously and on his frequent visits to the UK he would play a challenge match EVERY day. Race to 11 - start at 11am sharp and usually takes a couple of hours while his entourage sit around waiting for him. He brings his own personal pool caddy, Dodi who racks the balls and prepares the Prince's cues for action.
The WPA bribed? What good would that do? The tournament is organised by Matchroom and the Prince is nominated by the Asian Pocket Billiard Union. He may not be the best player in the tournament (nor the worst) but he is proud to represent his country. He breaks well considering he generally breaks from the middle) and he is capable of stringing racks together.
His presence at any event does more good than harm as it creates an interest in certain media to which the game generally has no access.
Let the man get on with the game which he enjoys and supports.
It has probably cost close to a $million on practice, travel, security etc to get this far. Not to mention the man hours he has put in.
