How often do you replace cue tips?

There was a time when 6 months was my turn a tip time with Lay Pro as hard as I could get.
The tip was at it's best just before cut off. Any lower endangered the ivory ferrule.
Now I don'wear a tip out 🤷‍♂️

It's kind of wild to me how often some of you folks change tips although I suppose it's fair to say that I don't notice a difference if the tip gets harder. I changed the tip on my first shaft after 12 years after it finally got close to the ferrule.

Nowadays, I play in 3 leagues shooting something like 6-8 hours a week. I switch between butts fairly often, but they all have a 12.9 Revo that fits them. They all have either a Zan Hybrid Max or a Taom Fusion on them. Those tips have been on for around 2.5 years and look the same as they did when they got put on. I have the person doing it cut and shape enough to take off the first two layers.

I used to play with hard tips on wooden shafts, and they lasted about 6 months.
Softer tips held less, not just because of loosing shape but also getting hard and dull.

Today I mix medium and hard tips, trying to figure out what works best for me on CF shafts.
One thing that I’ve noticed is that on CF shafts, the tip don’t last as long as on wood shafts, they loose shape faster, even hard tips loose shape faster and need reshaping more frequently, so the tip lifespan is shorter with CF, about 3 months for a hard tip. (I play about 12 hours a week)

I generally do it just to try out something different. A good milkdud can last for years. They are basically already at the sweet spot at full height. It used to be a tip really started getting good when it was about half original height or even the thickness of a nickel.

The only tip I've cut off every 3 months was Kamui blacks because they started glazing up after a couple months. I know a lot of people like them but IMO they are junk. I've never had another tip, layered or not glaze as easily as the Kamui tips.

Yeah I’m usually good for about 18 months per tip. That’s a Triangle tip and a few hours of practice a day. 18 months and the tip is pretty thin. According to my cue guy I wait too long. He usually chuckles at me when he sees it.

At an average, I play 2-3 hours a day (sometimes more or less), 5-6 days a week (Sometimes more or less), longest has last me about a year (MW Supertip). But then only been playing pool for a touch over two years, I am sure a tip could last as long as you're comfortable with it. My snooker cue has had the same tip for coming on four years now (but then my time spent at the big green table is a lot less than it was before I started to play pool - I play snooker maybe once a week if I had to average these days)

I have a Thoroughbred M on my Zen xPro that has a lot of life left in it, it's been there for half a year, and it still plays lovely. This Hayakawa shaft I am currently playing with has a Sakura M on it, and I am currently "umming and ahhing" about putting a Thoroughbred on that too. Waiting for the Sakura to hopefully harden a little bit. It's taken two shapings so far, and seems a little more frail than the Thoroughbred M. The feel is quite nice though. Haven't played a lot with this shaft, as it is still in the trial phase of being my main player. Can't fault the feel of this Sakura tip, hoping it becomes a bit more robust.

IDK if it's the new lipstick chalks being less abrasive, or I'm not playing as much as I used to years back, but I think I'm getting 2-3 years on a tip these days.

I replaced them in 3 to 4 months.

Bought some cheap tips from temu, they played ok for first 2 months and then they kinda feels dead suddenly
