How The Rep System Works?

Hey can anyone fill me in on how the rep system works on here? I have noticed that those with more total rep points give out more when leaving a good rep. Also some leave a little grey square instead of a green one. Is that because they are newer members?

BigVic, you've got it right.

FTR, Smorgass Bored is the Big Kahuna with REP points. :D

He's a little tight with his REP points but he does try to spread them around. I just got some RED REP from him the other day and his red rep is like vacuum cleaner. Stay clear of his bad side unless you want to regularly collect bad rep like one of our AZ members.

Thanks Joey. I figured it worked somewhat like that. You're not far from the top of the leaderboard yourself I see.

And yes I am trying to make friends here not enemies, looks like the respected members of the forum can do some damage if they dont like what you post.

And Now....The REST Of The Story

Please tell the WHOLE story. JoeyA. ruined my day and my life when he gave me red Rep the other day. In my anger, I red Repped him right back. After a short time to calm down, I told him that I had bad Repped him out of anger and I quickly gave him GOOD REP to make up for my mistake. JoeyA. came out AHEAD in Rep on the deal.

Now, he's trying to get green sympathy Rep from others here without telling the WHOLE story. Don't fall for this pathetic attempt at getting green Rep. He should be ashamed of himself for giving me RED REP..... which he has never corrected, by the way.

Bourbon Street is named after JoeyA. "One Way" :)
I still like JoeyA. but I gave away my dog that I'd named after him and I removed him from my will.

Doug
( I wish I couild give myself some green Rep to make up for Joey's negative rep )

I just gave you red rep. You don't deserve it, but I am trying to help JoeyA become #1 :)

Ha ! Don't make me laugh. I ain't a skeered.
Where would she ever find a fat, bald headed old man, 11 years older than her,in ill health, that loves to play pool, poker, horses and online poker while surfing groups & forums. Someone that refuses to work or pickup after themselves and gambles at every opportunity.

Men like me don't grow on trees, you know.

*Don't think I've forgotten the negative Red Rep that you gave me, with all this deflecting doubletalk.... dammit !

Its my new hobby this past month, when you cant get out of bed because of back problems simple things in life start to matter, if I had my health I wouldnt pay attention to it. But since I learned about it I have been having fun with it, and I also do use it to complement someone that makes a good post that my first reason to REP someone other times its for fun. I know it might sound stupid but its true when your bed bound 20-22 hours a day believe me things change.

Wow, I'm on top of the 6th page with rep points. I'm in pretty good company considering the short time I've been around the forum. I'm glad you guys think enough of my posts to give me props.

Jule says that he/she finds the rep system amusing and why anyone would care, but to be honest, you can look at your own points and see if people are appreciating what you're putting up. I'm sitting at 3800 rep points at the moment and I really haven't been around the forum all that long. I joined a year or so ago but I didn't start posting regularly until a few months ago. In that short amount of time I've been repped quite a bit. And some of those rep points on my advice posts are from some of the well respected members of this board. That tells me that people are reading my posts and appreciating what I'm putting up. Positive feedback if you ask me.

Did you know that you can trade REP points for V Cash?
Send 500 in V Cash via PM for the how to.

I assume you don't want to trade V Cash for REP points.

I would really appericate that, It wont let me REP you right now, I tried to the other day for a real good post you made, not just for the sake of REPing you. I do both for people For good posts, because someone is my friend or to be nice, like I said its a cool thing to do. A simple pleasure in life.

As a new AZer, I was fortunate. LOL

Started in the beginning of April. One of the first people I met was Smorg.
I had NO IDEA he is the Big Kahuna. LOL Just gotta know the right people.LOL
He is a very cool guy. With a warped sense of humor like me. He makes me laugh everyday. I received alot of rep very quickly. Now I know where all of it came from. LOL Thanks Doug.

I just found out how to check my rep. , so am not totally sure who sent it to me in the beginning. (Im assuming it was doug) And thanks to everyone else too.

Joey,
Smorgie has always been generous with his repping, as have you, Blackjack, JAM, Hu and a host of others. In fact, of the 30 members on the front page, I've gotten rep from all but 7 of them. So I think that most of the members who are aware of the rep system are pretty generous. Remember, there's lots of members here who probably don't even realize they are getting good rep, or why those green boxes stretch out. I was here for a couple of years before I even knew what those boxes meant. I'm still sorry that I missed thanking all the people who repped me and I never knew about it. *Although it was YOU, JoeyA, who gave me that "highly coveted and much balleyhooed 11th greenie!" :D

As I've said a dozen times or so in the past, all rep points are to me are tokens of friendship. I give them for posts that are good, informative or funny. They're worthless outside of AZB. But they're fun to pass around, especially with the comments that are often included.

If the whole rep system were abolished here, I would still hang out here. At first, I joined to get more info on the pros. But lately, the comedy stuff is what I really check in for more & more. For example, the "Chicken crossing the road" thread is a contender for "thread of the year" because of all the great humor inside!

I think everybody enjoys positive feedback at times, and the rep system can be used for a lot of good things. They mean different things to different people.

Fatboy has made it his goal to be in the top 5, so Blackjack is next to get bumped off!

Cuetecasaurus (Nate) has made it his goal to be all red, and he's one of the best members here.

JAM was number 2 last week, and she got so much crap that she had to take another hiatus, which is a shame.

I have never given a bad rep, although I came close for a guy who kept agitating about Lassiter & Strickland. But it would take an awful lot for me to ever bad rep anyone here. This place is way too much fun to get bent out of shape over.
