Like any product figure your work time x per hr rate, your material cost, add it up then add 50% give you a 1/3 profit.

Do you make custom shafts for customers already?

What is your time worth?
Factor is cost of equipment both new and when repairs or upgraded are required.

Your cues are worth
1- what you think they are worth
2- what people will pay for them.

I charge an amount that I feel my cues are worth,
If I never sell even 1, it doesn't matter to me as cue making is a hobby, not my full time gig.

If you want to be taken seriously, you shouldn't raise or lower prices dramatically
Start your cues at a price that will be competitive for a custom cue, not an entry level import.

My cues are not inexpensive and I have a hard time keeping up.
I guess it all depends on the local economy as well,
But I never advise on giving stuff away.
My opinion only

Let me know what you come up with. I'm in the same boat, I'm pricing my conversions fairly cheap, just to get my name out in the area. The profit is ok and I'm not in the process of making this a full time "job". Once I start turning wood, I'll have to figure out a pricing structure on them as well. I'm actually using my the cue and J/B I've made and that seems to be the best advertisement, I use what I make.

I know you have your answer already.. But I am going to say this.

1. You determine your value!
2 You and only you know how much you have in equipment and time and materials into what your working on.
3. You and only you determine your value
4. I will also say this to you. If you are into building cues to make a fortune. You should reconsider building cues. Because you more than likely will not make a fortune.

When I got into building cues I did it because at that time if I wanted a custom cue made. I was looking at spending a couple thousand dollars to get a good one. Way out of my price range. I decided that I was going to build custom cues at a reasonable price so every pool player could afford one. Meaning that I would build cues that range from $325.00 to $1500.00 unless someone would order one more expensive. This is still what I do today. This seems to be a good price range.

I love building cues. I love anything to do with pool. Do I get rich building cues. NO.
Sorry to carry on!!
What I am saying is do the best work you can do. Love every minute of it. And your prices will work them selves out as you go.

You and only you determine what your worth.
I havent seen any of your work but I am looking forward to seeing some. I love it when new builders start. because it means there is still hope for the pool world!!
