How to recognize simonis cloth on a used table

Hey all,

I am upgrading my pool table and will be buying another used one. Many of the tables for sale here came with the house the sellers have bought and they generally have little knowledge of what the table/cloth is unless there is a label. I would like to find one with simonis cloth and was wondering if there were any distinguishing characteristics of simonis that i could use to pick it out.

More likely that you will be able to tell the quality of the cloth from the relative deterioration and the amount of, or lack of, fuzz.

It should be easy to spot good worsted wool cloth, harder to tag a brand on it (unless they have logos on it.)

If you are buying a table from an owner that is sick of using it as a laundry table, wants it out of the house, and knows little about pool, there is very, very, very, little chance it will have the most expensive cloth, Simonis, on it:)
 
If I understand your question, basically you find a table at a home that was just purchased by a new owner, who now has a pool table he has no use for.

If you want the new owner to identify the cloth for you by phone, or if you want to identify the cloth, the best you will hope to achieve is whether it is a worsted cloth like simonis, or a non worsted cloth.

You can pretty much pick lint from the non worsted cloth and you'd have to work pretty hard to do that with a worsted cloth.

All that is assuming you will be able to use the cloth over again to begin with. :shrug:
 
thanks guys. I think I have what I need.

I have played on simonis before and have a general idea of what it looks/feels like. I don't expect to find something with simonis on it but there are a couple of brunswick tables available with like new cloth that looks/feels similar to simonis. I was hoping there was a distinguishing characteristic but it sounds like that is not the case.
 
I was under the impression that the Simonis name is imprinted on the cloth itself and I think it is on the side rails.
 
Somewhere I read that there is certain light you can shine on the cloth and if it is Siminios the logo will show.
