How to remove mildew smell from linen wrap on cue??

Recently purchased an Adam cue (I think it is a DX8 model). Came with a hard case. Cue is in very good shape but the case internals smell of mildew, and the smell is also on the linen wrap of the cue.

What can I use or do to remove the mildew smell from the linen wrap??

Just off the top of my head how about rubbing it with baking soda and let it air out like that for a day or so?
Now if the wrap itself is mildewed I think it needs to be replaced.

Okay here comes a stupid question, why not get a damp towel with some windex or some other cleaner wipe it back and forth on the wrap? Let it air dry.

Thanks for the ideas. I don’t drink coffee so no go on the coffee grounds. I think the smell may be about gone from the wrap. I set the butt outside today for fresh air. I read that sunlight could help remove the smell so I covered the finished areas so that only the wrap was exposed to light. Now have the wrap wrapped in a couple of dryer sheets, being careful so the the sheets are not touching the finish.

The case is being a bit more difficult. All of the fabric and foam smell. Hoping a bit more time outside in the fresh air and sunlight will help it.

Will post some photos of the cue tomorrow.

If the cue was long stored somewhere like a damp basement, and thus accumulated that odor, you may have trouble. The wood may have absorbed the smell also. I had a guitar (nitrocellulose finish) with that problem. All the listed remedies worked temporarily, but the smell always returned eventually.

its like cat piss, it isn’t going away. Sucks unless you love the cat and get why he pissed on your cue. He was jealous of all the stroking.

In the past Clorox has worked well for mildew in other situations. I think it kills the mold besides removing the smell. Could it be used for this?

I knew a guy who built a sushi bar and covered everything including walls with stainless steel for this very reason - wood would absorb the fish smell and retain it.

Not just smell. stainless is used for germ/bacteria reduction in restaurants. most health. dept's these days require it.

Adding::

Take a bowl 2" wide and 2" longer than the wrap.
Fill ¼" with clorox
place butt over bowl
rotate every ½ hour
allowing the bleach vapor to waft up to the wrap.
