How to use this tip tool?

I have had this one for a long time, and it will also last forever!

The best tip tool I've ever owned is the Kamui Gator Grip. It's no longer produced but there are knockoffs for less than $20.

If your tip gets glazed, you miscue, or the chalk is built up weird... you just roll the tip on the metal surface. Works for all tip hardness and doesn't remove material. Better than a tapper/pick and lasts forever. The thing is great.

I used to be a tip tool whore and tried many. None work as well as the Gator Grip. My case only has the Gator Grip and a Last4Ever (only used for the leather burnishing strip on it).

Come on people.... it's not the inside tip burnisher that scratches the ferrule. It is the sandpaper on the OUTSIDE of the forks that do the scratching when you remove mushrooms (sanding the side of the tip). Like any tool, you need to use it properly.
nope. the tip burnisher is indeed the cause of scratches on ferrules when grit gets between ferrule and sides of tip burnisher as referenced by several, me included.

I couldn't help but note in the video how delicately Jennifer holds a shaft...

I’ve own many tools over the years. Even the POS Ultimate tool. I was using a Williard and a tip pik for years. And the last 4 ever replaced them all. I’m using the nickel for my play and jump tips and the quarter for my breaker.

The only problem with the last4ever tool is it’s too damn good. I’m never going to need to replace it.

Last 4 ever tip tool is great but is very abrasive and rough.
It's basically a file.
Great for shaping but a little too rough for everyday use as far as I'm concerned.
Takes your tip down way too fast.
I still use the good old Willard tip tool for roughing and finishing once it's shaped to my liking.
Takes down way less surface than the lat 4 ever tip tool.

Just like any tool, it can cause damage if used incorrectly. Ham-fisted people can screw up anything.

I've never scratched my ferrule, pulled a tip off, or any of the other things people are claiming.

I like the tool as an emergency touch-up when I'm out.

I don't run the tool across the tip to rough it, as that would indeed take off too much leather. I just roll it, creating micro dimples that work fine to hold chalk. There are some good videos on youtube.

A Willard will do the same but not as abrasive.
Whatever works for you.
Some people on here think all you have to do is chalk your tip since chalk is an abrasive.

You’re using it way too rough then. I barely take anything off on the tip when I run it through. I run it past the tip every few days. I probably dimple it daily. And burnish it once a week. I’m playing a few hours daily and using a super soft tip.

Run your finger over it.

Don't misunderstand me.
It has it's place in my case but I use it for shaping a new tip generally.
I have a last 4 ever tip tool and love it for that reason and I play hard pressed Triangles.
My tips last me a good long time and they get harder with age and playing as they compress further.

How to use this tip tool?

1) If you are right handed, pick the tool up with your left hand.
2) Look over your left shoulder.
3) Now place the tool in your right hand.
4) Throw tool over your left shoulder.

(steps 1 & 2 are optional)

Ditto.👍👍👍👍👍

Or make fishing lure out of it, Big Bass could be tools next victim.🤮
