Apologize in advance if this is a dumb question. But what is the best way to ensure a good transaction on AZB?

I have a James White and a Paul Mottey for sale. I would like to use AZB to sell these cues but I want to make sure the sale goes well. Is PayPal the preferred payment method? Does anyone use a third party as a "broker"? Or is it easier to just wait for PayPal to clear before shipping?

Pay with a postal money order

Always nice to know the buyer too. Make sure returns are satisfaction gaurenteed. Never send the Cue until you are paid unless you want to.
Insure your shipments.

Nick :)

Seek out a third party to do escrow. You send the cue to this third party, the buyer sends money to the third party and the exchange is made if all is good and on the up and up. Don't forget to pack the cue securely and add tracking. Insurance is well worth the piece of mind that it affords

Look in the posts at the top of this page for more info on escro service.

#1 Accurate descriptions
#2 Good pictures, (no pictures, no sale, that's my personal policy, I don't care who you are or what your reputation...this is even MORE true for cue dealers in my view. Their job description includes pictures IMHO, I won't do business with somebody I know already can't do the minimum of their job description, even a stellar reputation does not replace pictures IMHO)
#3 Good communication, open communication
#4 Secure, traceable transaction (different people feel differently about this, and there are common misunderstanding about some things like money orders, I like Paypal)
#5 Expect to "give" a little on your first sale. Maybe a little on price, maybe a little on terms. Reputation is everything here and it takes some transactions to establish that
#6 Look at iTrader numbers, but DO NOT think that means everything, and if a buyer or seller seems to feel their higher iTrader in any way gives them any advantage over you STOP THE DEAL, do not be bullied. There most certainly are rip-off artists with lots of great iTrader ratings. Everybody is on equal footing IMHO. I say again, DO NOT be bullied. Warning signs: "I have a high iTrader so you have to do X, Y, and Z." You don't have to do anything at all and they are in no position to dictate to you. (I already said above that if you have no reputation yet then there will likely be some small concessions, this is not what I am talking about here.)
#7 Use an escrow service if there is any question about the product or the deal
#8 Learn how to pack a cue for shipping, there is lots on the forums about it.
#9 Use shipping insurance
#10 Make sure you actually discuss the possibility of the deal being bad for any reason and how that should be handled. Both parties should be fully aware of what the terms are in this regard. Leave as little as possible open to question.

Important: If anything makes you uncomfortable resolve it immediately or STOP the transaction. Don't vacillate, don't him-haw around.

And finally: Screw the Golden Rule. Do unto others BETTER than you would have them do unto you.

I do not believe there is a better way to say this...

Nick,
How do you handle a "newbe" on the site selling a cue that you want. Being we the "buyers" are already established with rep. Do you: take the chance and send the money, use escrow, or what?

as stated above by mr chopdoc. Escrow, find a third party. LOTS of people here are willing to do it.

I've always used Paypal, both here and on Ebay...and I have NOT gotten burned yet! I do offer satisfaction guaranteed and will refund money (minus cost of shipping cue back to me) if someone is unhappy with purchase.

Any "club member" is a stand up person, most will help you out

that is not entirely true.. as we would all love to believe that any club member is a stand up member but , unfortunatly, anybody can be a club member just by sending the forum 5 bucks.. it does not match any info to authenticate where the money or who sending it came from.. so anybody can do it if they wish..

I make them send me the cue to my billiards store.......always...then I send cash...my word is as strong as oak......

I've thought of that....having them send the cue first ( if they don't have a high i-trader) then sending cash if all is good. Nice to know someone else has done that already.

go to your USER CP (control panel)

all the way at the bottom is a selection for Subscriptions...

and in there you will find where you can donate to the forum..

the cheapest is 1 month for $3.95...

it will go through paypal..

If they are new, with 0 deals,I'll have them send me the cue first, then I'll send the cash. Marcus is a great way to got also, he will take the cue, from the seller, and look it over, and tell you any issues with it, and also take the cash. If you still want the cue, he sends the cue and cash. Easy transaction.

Appreciate everyone's help. I plan on taking some high quality pics in the next few days and then test the waters.

The best way to sell ANY Mottey or White cue is just send the info to me and price it competitively and I buy them:D. Thats what I collect and I am a sucker:thumbup:

Please send all specs, pics, and price for both to thecuehunter@gmail.com

Thanks

I look forward to seeing the pics.

I love cue pics.

Good luck with your sale.

My first cue sale here was a nail biter I'll tell you. But it went very well. I was so concerned about how it would go.

If you are unsure about anything or just want to ask questions then speak up.

The worst you can do is keep your mouth shut and let a bad deal get worse. Just talk to the buyer and talk to the community if needed. Keep it friendly and all should go well. Deals are private, of course, but there is a community here that is interested and sincerely wants all to go well.
