If you were a person who was in charge of a newsletter and you were also a league operator/tournament director and one of your sponsors didn't live up to their end of a deal, how long would you give them to make good on their promise which you have in writing? What do you consider a reasonable time frame, how long?

this is very vague and no i do not want to know all the details - just stating it is not clear - the sponsor did not live up to the deal with the newsletter or the league/tournament? either way, if you have it in writing, i would assume you have a resolution clause of some sort in that same doc? it also depends on the relationship you have and want with that sponsor in the future. there are way too many factors to give an answer. the only thing that can be said is provide a "reasonable" amount of time using your best judgment. if you are out of pocket money, then it becomes much more urgent.

To clarify things, in more simple terms, how long would you give someone to make good on a promise? If they turned out to be shady, would you let your fellow az'ers know about their shady doings if they finally made good of their promise after a more than reasonable time?

I wouldn't give them any time at all.

I would immediately go to my favorite forum and expose this sponsor for the low-life scumbag that they are and try to ruin their reputation so they could no longer do business in the industry.

Why do you ask?

It sounds like you have given them ample time before this post. I consider ample time a couple of weeks. Stay in communacation with them. If they sever communaction then is the time to tell them you are going to take it public. Always give them a notice and time frame. After that you do as you choose.

Break a contract? I'll see you in court. Nuff said. No reason to bring it to AZB because you won't get what is rightfully yours.

Have they come to you to explain? Have you talked to them asking what happened to the deal you had? Seems like a little communication might not hurt before bullets fly.

You know, I can feel for you here as I have been through it and it is very frustrating indeed.

I'm not sure exposing here is a good idea It just seems a bit small and childish to me, but that's me.

My advice is get pretty assertive and explalin your position, situation, and dependence on everone doing what they say they will do. Ask how to resolve it so it doesn't happen again and then take action.

I've had them dodge calls and come with every story in the world and I well know how irritationg this can be. I will say though, that when they dodge my callls and owe something, I really torture them then by calling every hour for days on end.

I guess we all have our own way, but don't be too kind or understanding as they will take it as a weakness.

Good luck.

Personally, I do not believe there was any miscommunication. I was to advertise their product in exchange for a couple things that individual sells. This person asked me about this deal in Vegas when I was out there over the summer. I dropped "them" am email asking for them to call me. I was pleased that they called me back the next day. I got some excuse that they thought they had until the end of December.

I explained how that was not the agreement. They have had almost 2 months of advertisement now, and I would really appreciate them keeping their end of the deal. Allegedly, they were sending the product later that day.

Azbilliards is a POWERFUL forum, and I do not want to post any more information about this person/company right now. AZ can make or break a reputation. I do want to give them the benefit of the doubt and one last chance to make good of their word. Maybe I am being "too nice" but even though I feel I was given the run around, they claim to be willing to honor the agreement. I am sorry if they didn't get any sales, but I can not make someone like someone else's product. That is a chance you take when you advertise. I think when you risk under $20 for advertisement every week for 3 months, it is worth the chance.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

sounds to me that you did your part and they are lagging behind on theirs, but the fact that they are willing to follow through with the deal should stop this thread in its tracks. maybe you should provide a deadline for them to comply before exposing them and denting their reputation in the industry. although you do not believe there to be miscommunication, doesn't mean they didn't. contracts are meant to iron out details as such, people should really start using them. it looks as though you are a promoter of some sort, it seems that you would have this nailed down to a tee.

I'm happy to say that after a phone call to the company who made the agreement, they made good on their promise. I received what I was promised with a little extra. I believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, however, I don't like it when I am given the run around. Regardless, whatever reason they gave me for taking so long in fulfilling their end of the deal, they did make up for the wait.

glad to hear things worked out for you and that you didn't disclose the company/individual in a negative light here on the site - it sounds like they did right by you in the end.
