How Would You Shoot This?

For the ones who like the combo....that's half the shot.

I much prefer spinning two rails with left hand english...mid table.

With check, you can still hook yourself...and the accuracy is tougher.
...with center ball, you're just rolling the dice...lotta hooks.

Whoever (seriously) banks the 2 rather than play the 2-3 combo please pm me your address and the pool room you play out of ASAP!

Name; Cecil (Buddy) Hall

Address: Somewhere in Texas

If you promise to play me for 200/day for the rest of my life I can retire today. :boring2:

Play the 2-3 combo to get whitey back to center of table and you should be good. Key shot in this rack is getting right angle for 5 in the side to get to 6.

It's all down hill from there. Just remember to keep focus and execute for winner winner chicken dinner.

PS...Due to the layout of the table I would play the 2-3 combo even if the 2 was froze to the rail on down table...

The shooter, as mentioned above, was Buddy Hall. He banked the 2 straightback and ran the table.

Well, the ones who recommended the bank are in pretty good company.

But I still like two rails with left english....and I'm in pretty good company also.
....I showed the first picture to the Lion....he called two rails with left.

A one-pocket player would have ducked.
With a tight Diamond table. I think that 2 would hang in the jaws easily after a soft combo.

It's obvious Buddy banked that ball cause he was bellyhooked. Either way it wasn't the high percentage shot.

Really baffles me why he banked it. I still don't think it's the right shot.

The shots always look different from the other end of the shot but I have to agree with you. I don't see the bank as a reasonable shot at all. From the pics posted I would've shot the 2/3 combo with inside draw and killed the cueball (hopefully) just about where it was to start with. If it hit the 9 it would hit it from the bottom and not hook me, with a little luck.

He still have a beautiful stroke and "pins" the cue-ball like a pool surgeon

Buddy's been playing a lot down here in Texas, I've played him several times. He still plays well, just has endurance challenges. One night playing 8 Ball he played 3 matches in a row nearly flawless. He still has a beautiful stroke and "pins" the cue-ball with the expertise of a surgeon.

That just proves Buddy hates combos.
He always says that when he commentates.
Too bad we don't see him play much anymore.

How could you miswrite it twice? You did finish High School didn't you?

Johnny Archer also provided me with some useful information last weekend

Yes, it's amazing to see what he can do with the cue-ball - it appears to be on a string.

I learn something everytime I'm around the legendary Buddy Hall. I can't wait to pass on one thing in particular to my students. Johnny Archer also provided me with some useful information last weekend at the SidePockets tournament in Shreveport.

I apologize, it was careless to not be sensitive

I apologize, it was careless to not be sensitive about an old 9 ball players feelings. Maybe you should go take a nap and get ready for bed so you feel less incorrigible.

PS: sorry about stepping on your lawn, no need for violence.

I'm certain that these tidbits of info are top-secret things that nobody has ever learned before. Make sure to get paid well before sharing them with the unwashed masses.

P.S. Why do you only reply to the shot-choice threads AFTER the shot is shown? Are you afraid to give your opinion?
