Get a call today that a Gentleman would like some tips changed on his shafts. He let's me know he's at my Tavern so I instruct him to leave the shafts with my Wife and I'll have them done by tomorrow. He then informs me these are shafts from a several thousand dollar Balabushka and he will only hand them over to me. At this point my heart is beating pretty good and I tell him not to move, I'll be there in 5 minutes. I ran to my truck at made it to the bar in record time. I walk in, he introduces himself, we shake hands and he unzips his case. Low and behold, he pulls a brand new ADAM out of the case and hands it to me..... I was bummed. Brian.

I sold a used one to a guy, right away he thought he had gotten over on me and thought it was a original ...

I told him over and over it was a Adams Buska a replica , over and over for months telling this guy it was a replica.

He wanted nothing to do with the truth.

The cue was falling a part, the but sleeve and joint collar both came loose .
I was so embarrassed I offered him a full refund on the cue because I had never sold a cue and it fall apart like this .
I ended up fixing the cue for free no big deal but wow was that deal weird .

I think it was an Adams "Signature" Balabushka. Some people are not aware that there are two sorts of Balabushkas, one with a signature and one without. But the most expensive current model I could find on the official website was only $1400. I hope the tipless player didn't pay too much more than that.

HA!

I have an Adam Balabushka as my primary player, It was made in Japan and a very good cue. Lasted 13 years or so, with nary a warp or issue I didn't cause myself (like a smashed butt due to temper).

To think it's an actual Bushka is comical, though.

I can relate to your story. As a cue collector and traveller I have had a few people on my travels proudly say they have a Balabushka or know someone who has one and I always ask that they mean an original and they always say YES! So I wander down to take a look with a lot of anticipation hoping to possibly talk them into selling it for a good price, and so far it has always been a replica! OH WELL one day it might happen :-)
