Hustlers Week 2: Episodes 3 & 4 Thread

The WPBA says she is ranked 24th in the world. Who should the people believe, them or you? Nobody suddenly appears on that list, it takes hard work. So why all the hate, friend?

I would almost bet you could find 24 better in this country never mind the world

I watch the show with my wife. I question a lot of shots and position. Just seems fake at times. Still like the show. Just have no idea what the premise is. What does the list mean? If balls are being rearranged for the show. Then what am I watching.

Thank you, amongst guys like you I am.

Since you were there please explain what happened with that shot.

What happened is she rolled up for the 2 nine combo and dogged it. When it didn't fit the script they just moved ahead a few balls and let her win.

Don't you guys think that there might be 1000 other players who are more deserving of this attention? Guys that put in hours and miles on the road. This girl shows up a few years back saying she's a top female pro and poof like magic we all gotta buy it?

This is why pool is like it is. Nobody wants to invest the time to gain the knowledge and ability to excell. It's just true cause they want it to be. That's not how it works in the real world.

My guess is, she rolled up for the combo, dogged it and they moved ahead a few balls and she still won.

If it was scripted and they wanted her to make the combo and win, she would have kept shooting it until she got it. Editing would have only included the made shot. That's the whole idea of scripting.

No hate. Just don't buy into the staged games.

As far as WPBA ranking it'd a joke. I'd be #6 in the country if I had breasts!!!

Could really give a rats ass what any of you think. It's okay of people think the show is BS. I'm not the only one. It's more like days of our lives.

Bingo. My point exactly.
Get ready for the hate mail!

At this point if you pay your member dues you are guaranteed 30th on the list....just send in a head shot and the name of your publicist.

Looking at WPBA ranking number 30 and down are only playing half or less of the events. Players earn points for playing, then more for winning. So sure your ranked, but not for winning or even placing high. What's the highest she's placed??

I watched the first half hour of episode 3 & just stopped. Besides the piss poor editing job of that match on the Diamond, the match itself was staged.

The guy who lost to Gary is a strong player & missed a bunch of those shots on purpose. The match took place at a pool hall on Long Island on a night of a big tournament actually.

The guy who you see in the match was in it & got knocked out the first round & then went over to be put into that match. The match you see playing next to them actually was a tournament match which the filming got in the way of which was complete bs considering it was a super tournament night with real big money up for grabs.

Oh & for the record he is not the house guy their either. This show is an insult to those in the know of the tri-state area pool scene.
wow put the fire out why don't ya relax !!!

You are right, all that BS on the side line when players are playing just does not happen in any pool room if a serious game is being played.

With one exception, hispanic pool rooms. I have played in hispanic pool rooms and what you have to put up with is unbelievable. That is just what they do it would seem.
:boring2:oh mosconi cup format does not work??

Please

Please understand if this was made to only appeal to Pool players the market would be so small it would not make it to the 2 nd. Week. It has to appeal to the masses so the bantering adds to the program for people who are not purist. I had two people doing work in my home last week and we were talking about it, the one guy plays some 8 ball on occasion the other one does not play at all. They both have seen it and they both enjoyed it, that is the bigger market the non Pool world. How accurate was the Color of Money, a bar player turned into a world beater in 6 weeks ! The movie appealed the public and Pool went on a boom. Let's get behind all Pool on reality and hope Pool gets a small jolt that it sorely needs.

That just shows the low bar there is on Tru tv. It is a good sign for The Hustlers if they can get their act together. I don't think it would take much support for Trutv to green light a second season.

We have enough power right here to maybe do it if we started a campaign to support the show. I will be contacting who ever, to show my support for their new show.

I hope everybody who is on here will do the same. AZ billiards can be like the "Koch" brothers for The Hustlers if we try. I have made my criticisms already and now I want to support it how ever I can and lets see where it can go.

How about a support page we can sign to help with your campaign?
great idea by you!
We enjoy the show and yes, it is a tv show1
We hope they show some of the VF pit action from this year! fun times

WOW, that is crazy, never played in one. I did play in a local Asian pool room in Tampa, which is kind of funny, cause Tampa has a huge Hispanic population, anyway, it’s the complete opposite, in the Asian room, once the side betting is done and the match starts you could hear a pin drop.

But that's just it, you don't have breasts. Maybe you can do what Bruce Jenner did. Then you can go on the tour and kick her ass! Muhahahaha.

Yeah I'm more of a leg guy.
You go ahead and feel free to go that route...would probably be a big hit.

I think it's pretty good. A little tough to watch sometimes if you play the game but, for the masses who it's intended for, it's pretty damn good.

For those who are dismissing Emily's game, all I can say is, she is playing infinitely better than the first few times I have seen her play.

Two snaps up!

I think some people have lost their minds.

It's entertainment; not an historical documentary.

The producers are looking for exactly one result - ratings because that's what gets you more shows to tape and that's how the bills get paid.

In trying to achieve ratings, the producers have every right to bend, twist, embellish and edit however they see fit. It's their baby.

I watched another Tru TV show a few times because it was entertaining, not even close to real. That show was Operation Repo.

Crazy shit happening at *every* repo job like one where The big, bald white guy, Matt, and Froy go to repo a car at the deadbeat's work and she just happens to be a very petite Asian karate instructor who comes out angry as a hornet and starts throwing Matt to the ground....

Or when they go to repo a car and a couple are naked having sex in the car when they roll up....

Or when they went to a bowling alley where the deadbeat was supposed to be and he finds out they're there and he comes running out like he was about to roll a strike with the bowling ball still in his hand and he ends up throwing it through their window...

Or the time they went to do a repo at the Crips or was it the Bloods compound in the middle of nowhere and end up in a gun fight...

Bottom line, these shows are for entertainment, nothing more.

The way I see it, what The Hustlers show might be doing pales in comparison to most of these other True TV shows.

Maybe they should step it up.

best,

Sounds about right on. It's a "reality show". You're watching for someone(s) to make an ass out of themselves.

I had similar thoughts here:

If you watch some of the vids on youtube of the Philippine, you notice they will just walk right in front of the guy shooting or sit on the table right next to the players. When you play in an Hispanic room sharking is like the rule. They all seem to do it.

Not if the audience were allowed to get out of their seats and go talk to the players actually hovering over the table at times. Ther is a difference between that and just clapping for a good shot.

This is a pool forum and being that, comments are not really meant for public consumption. How we choose to discuss the show would be much different then the average person who doesn't play and certainly doesn't read this forum. It would be impossible for us to just play dumb when discussing the show, nor should we.

Boy, Borana Andoni is good looking. Hope she appears in more episodes...

Pure entertainment. "Reality" TV was never meant to be real. It's called a willing suspension of disbelief...
