Hustlers Week 2: Episodes 3 & 4 Thread

They are pulling down some good advertising during commercials breaks, Moes . GEICO, Ritz crackers, Beer commercials, legal zoom, DQ.....not bad at all.

We could be worried of they had infomercials for the alumawallet or the shamwow.

The ad quality tells me money is being made by the network.
 
His match with the "easy money " for $200. Playing on a Diamond but half the pocket close ups are on a non Diamond table??!??!! Lol
 
Episode 3 was great. It had a better blend of pool and background/personal lives of the characters.
Showing the personal lives of Gary and Jennifer had me extremely invested in the match. From what I saw, the match was extremely legit and edited perfectly. The tension was excellent and spot on.

Outstanding episode.

Ask any non-pool player if they noticed that. Nitpicking to the maximum.

Episode 3 was awesome, I actually felt bad for Gary in the beginning when they showed him and his wife in his apartment, great character development, I forgot for a slight second that this show was about pool.
 
Made my dad watch all 3 episodes so far, and asked him after the end of episode 3 if he's honestly interested in the show or gotten hooked yet, he said yes. He's not a pool player at all and he found the show interesting, especially the personal segments about Gary and Jennifer, and he was asking alot of questions since he knows I'm an avid pool player. I think the normal audience would also like it.
 
I've watched all four episodes now and liked a lot of it. I don't know if non-players think 2 hours is too much in one sitting, but this pool player does. Johnnyt

By the end of episode 4 we are now totally invested in the list. Gary and his fall from the number 1 slot. Simonetti can play for sure. And now the hook, Finnegan is expanding the list to ten names. With Mike dechaine and Jarred waiting in the wings making a move to NY.

"Round robin between all ten players" I heard from Finnegan.

This show is delivering. I've read some of the nitpicking, and technical errors, but I believe most of those can be explained by the editing process. Maybe there were 3 or more safeties, and they jump cut from one safe to a shot falling the next. That doesn't mean the match was fixed in any way. The editors are up against a hard break for a commercial. Maybe they needed a slo mo shot falling into pocket, but only had B roll footage from a gold crown and the editor used it even though they were playing on a diamond. Other than technical editing mishaps, I believe the matches and outcomes to be real.

That match between scott and Gary was real. The reactions were genuine. The match between Emily and Amy had massive tension. My wife who is not into pool whatsoever was hooked and watched to see what happened. This show works on so many levels.

I have watched all 4 episodes and enjoy it. The bickering is excellent because that is what happens in Pool Rooms, looking forward to next week.

Same here. My wife has watched every episode and I've had friends over and everyone enjoyed it. Just keeps getting better
 
The editing of the matches during the last two episodes was a little better than the editing of the matches in the first two episodes. If the show could get the editing of the matches right, the show would be even that more fun to watch.

If Mike D is allowed to get on the list, he's easily going to be number 1 of the people that are featured on the show.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The show is entertaining to me and I enjoy watching it (although I'm not convinced how much reality is involved).

Yeah....I saw that too. Looked like a few Gold Crown pocket closeups snuck in there even though the match was on a Diamond. Not a big deal though. Overall I enjoyed both episodes a lot and will continue watching it.

Folks that are on Facebook should consider visiting Tru TV and Pilgrim Studios pages and post some positive comments about the show on the clips they have posted on there. They NEED to hear from people who play pool and like the shows....not just from the usual trollbots that have commented on the clips. So far they aren't getting much in the way of comments good or bad over the last two weeks.



OK NYC people what poolhalls did they visit other than Steinway in episode 3 and 4?
 
I watched the first half hour of episode 3 & just stopped. Besides the piss poor editing job of that match on the Diamond, the match itself was staged.

The guy who lost to Gary is a strong player & missed a bunch of those shots on purpose. The match took place at a pool hall on Long Island on a night of a big tournament actually.

The guy who you see in the match was in it & got knocked out the first round & then went over to be put into that match. The match you see playing next to them actually was a tournament match which the filming got in the way of which was complete bs considering it was a super tournament night with real big money up for grabs.

Oh & for the record he is not the house guy their either. This show is an insult to those in the know of the tri-state area pool scene.
 
Far as I'm concerned, it's good entertainment...if I want to see serious matches, youtube is full of them.
