HUSTLIN Apparel

I think that would be hustin'! Tony hustled when he pushed his design forward, hustled to get

his money right, and keeps on hustlin selling his product. I for one will keep on hustlin to purchase

his quality designs! I am a Culinary hustler, I can take ingredients for $5 and charge you $25...

and I keep on doing it...that makes me what? A con man? Nope. Is it a black eye to other

restaurants? nope. So why trash talk someones business, who has not really done anything to

warrant this, TAR did more to push the gambling than anything else, and I applaud them

for it. Give it up. Please

Yeah, that makes you are an artist, and a great chef, not a hustler, lol.

What damage has the Hustlin clothing brand specifically done?

You do know that they sponsor players and also provide free branded apparel to others? So they actually do good for pool.

Yeah, just because people buy the Hustlin gear does not mean that they want to become a pool hustler. They buy it because it looks cool, and it is a cool name (in my opinion anyways). I am sure that the people who buy the product do not take the meaning of the name so literal. It is just a fun, and a cool brand name.

Start a line called Leaguein' or Practicin' or well you get it, doesn't have the same ring to it. Its really a style that certain players like, I am not a fan of it but it does have a good following.

I think I have seen Skyler Woodward wear Hustlin gear in the past. Just because he wears it does not mean that he thinks of himself as a hustler. If you think about it, only a fool would buy a shirt that says Hustlin on it, and then go out and actually try to hustle someone out of their money, lol. It is just a fun brand name, and the gear looks cool (I think). It is a good brand name for pool players. People need to stop thinking of the "name brand" of the gear in its literal term.

They promote hustling.

No, they don't. It is just a fun brand name. If you seen a shirt that says "Guns don't kill people, I kill people", would you take it seriously?

It is just something fun, and might look cool and funny to some. The same goes for Hustlin gear. It is just a fun and cool brand name, that many pool players (or aspiring pool players) might be into. It is not meant literally.

thanks I was beginning to think I'm going crazy lol

To the Op you are making way to much out of nothing , today's generation is all about expression in the term of the shirt in urban lingo it's about working for the cash not trying to hustle someone out of it big difference ,
If you ever get out to a tournament stop by the booth , he's straight up and believe me he's not giving no shirt to players with questionable character , and supporting younger players big time

1

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing.

I believe the story the Hustlin people will give you is that they are using the word to mean the lifestyle of Hustlin...not fooling or robbing people, but *moving*. Working hard, hustling to make each new thing a success, to go out and grab it, etc. You know..."how's the new busboy doing?" "He's great, he really hustles"

That kind of idea, I'm pretty sure.

KMRUNOUT

I never thought of the word in that meaning, and what pool player or aspiring pool player would think of it in that meaning? I always just thought of the brand as something cool, and fun (but no meant to be taken literally).

he wanted to make a cool logo that sells. That's what business men do. It worked.. He's sold a lot . Congrats to him for being one of the few business men in pool that actually turns a profit.

Yeah, finally a poster that understands that the maker of the clothing was trying to do. It is too bad, that some people take things (like fun brand names, that were just meant to be fun and cool, and interesting to help the pool industry out) way too seriously.

And if he (the owner of the maker of the clothing) is supporting the youth of pool, then I think he is a great person.

Tony has been workin' hard all his life to succeed. That's hustlin' :D :D :D

Just because some narrow minded pool puritans are uncomfortable with the gambling side of pool doesn't mean it's bad for pool.

If you look at the history of pool, there have always been those two sides of the game -- the clean, "healthy recreation" family side, and the "action" and gambling side. This goes back to the earliest accounts of the game literally hundreds of years ago.

If you look at the last two boom times for pool, both were driven by hugely popular movies that glorified pool hustling. It's not going to go away unless you kill pool itself, and even the puritan players *say* they are trying to help, not kill pool.

Like others have said, educate yourself so you are not a victim if that concerns you, but otherwise, just don't partake of the pool flavors that are not to your own taste. How about that?

Great post.

What bothers me about hustlin gear is all the nits that wear it - if you are wearing a hustlin shirt you should HAVE TO GAMBLE if somebody asks, otherwise you should have to take the shirt off immediately.
Jason<-----wears hustlin gear sometimes

Lol, that is funny. So, I can't wear a Hustlin shirt if I have no gamble in me? That makes me sad. I just want to look cool, after all.

In a sense, are true Hustlers not nits? They are only after games that they can't lose. They would never play anyone that they did not know they could beat. Hustlers are nits too.

Hustling or Hustlin will never die.

We are in the age of the internet. The art of hustling died a long time ago. It is just a fun, and cool brand name. People buy the clothing because they think it looks cool. That is all. I do not wish to be a hustler, but I would buy the clothing if I thought it looked cool. I think that is the way most people who buy the clothing think. It is just something fun, and cool looking to where (on pool league night, or during a tournament, or anytime when out shooting pool with friends).

Never seen anyone put this much effort into arguing a useless point. It's almost like he's somehow personally invested in this topic like he's been hustled one too many times by better players lmao. Btw I'm pretty sure the connotations of hustling has reversed. It's viewed as a cool thing now not a bad thing. Also notice the OP almost never responds to the others points; he only brushes ppl off with "if you said it it must be true" lol. He must be trolling everyone and probably the founder of hustlin apparel lmao

Hopefully Hustlin is just a fad.

It has been a fad for quite a few years and will be for quite a few more. Tony has done a great job marketing his product.

If you travel around to tournaments all around this great country, you will see players wearing Hustlin apparel. I am 77 years old, still play in tournaments and gamble, and proudly wear my Hustlin shirts.

Most comfortable shirt an old fat guy can wear and play in.

John;

And; at those tourneys all around our great country, you could usually find Tony and his crew working their tails off (hustlin') to keep their products front and center.

Good for them!

Pool' s largest growth spurt in history was the five years after the film Color of Money. A film we all know is about REAL hustling and fraud. During this huge growth spurt Steve Mizerik was in our living rooms performing trick shots on a miller light commercial! 9ball and trick shots were the rage! Neither the film or the beer endorsements would be considered good for pool by the OP standards. But what a great time that was!!!!

On the Hustlin brand, people aren't that stupid! Pool players know it's just a a logo, non pool players don't care! People wear Harley shirts that cant ride, so people wear hustlin gear that don't cheat! Who cares!

Yeah, those were my thoughts, but you were better at explaining it.

A lot of the people who look down on pool players are far bigger hustlers and far more heartless and devious.
