Hustling

I hope you're not feeling like I said that to you....

i never robbed kids, retards or old people, who couldnt handle themselfs, i have no sympathy for drunks,

I did go against my policy of robbing old people in telemarketing for 2 years and I hate myself for what I did, i talk about it openly and am triple nice to senior citizens, i cant un do the damage i caused but I do good for others now. I hate myself for a few specific things I did it was their greed that prompted them to sending the $$ in, but i tricked them into it and therefore take full responsibility for it.

because I was speaking in general. But along the lines of "PC".......pretty much all of us know what is right or wrong (apart from the occassional sociopath) and if we need to justify doing something that our mind has questioned then we already know which side of the curve we're on.

As to the past, we've ALL done something(s) that we wish we hadn't or at least I have. The past is past...move on...be a better person is all I can hope to do.

I have some freinds who witnessed some hustlers hustling a retarded kids bike one time, and personally know someone whose Dad lost his child's only Christmas present in a bar game. Those are defining points that along with many others have shaped my paradigm. Many would call my attitudes PC, but they are what they are. It just never felt 'right' to me to take someone elses money....even though I didn't hustle anyone....and I hated even worse losing my own hard earned $.....so my small time gambling days were short lived.

I agree that PC can or may be a bit dull.....but it sure would be cool if we all just cared about each other...... I'll keep dreamin'......and waiting to see the next good 'action' match.

i never heard him complain about getting hustled.

Ive never viewed stalling as hustling by the technical sense of the word. Yes it can lead to falsely handicapping a game...... then it becomes hustling. But stalling in and of itself, especially when the bet is even.... its a grey area. I personally dont play any better than I have to, to win. It was how I was taught to play. Will I lay down to get a game in the first place? Probably not.
To me hustling is about actual deception and lying. Example.... several years back at the biggest tournament of the year in Alaska, a couple of guys (who played a good speed themselves) brought in a pro level ringer to snatch the calcutta. Which they did. Luckily Mark Griffin found out about what happened and was able to catch the "ringer" at the airport and get the prize money back before it left state.
To me, that is hustling.

It will never walk into a pool room and say i'm the best ever, I cant play a lick, but I'd like to try...
QUOTE]

One time I crashed into a private party thrown by NY Grind ( Pain, pool and poker promoters)

As soon as I was let in I shouted on top of my voice " I am the best one pocket player in the world with a shot clock 4 seconds for shot ,who wants to challenge me to take that title from me".Besides many others there were half a dozen pros including Chamat and raj Hundel.raj and chamat tried to woof at me.I told them that I did not believe in the talk and woofing and if they wanted to challenge me they could meet me in such and such place and play with a shot clock for 4 seconds shot. They asked me how much is the bet.I told them as much as they want with in 50,000$. some one there at that party asked me when did I win that title I was claiming.I told them that I never won no title and I gave that title to myself.

By the way 4 or 5 days ago i was playing one pocket with a canadian guy.the owner of the pool hall sat and watched. In one rack I ran 7 balls in in 30 seconds and missed the postion for the game ball. The owner of the pool hall said" man even the machine gun butera did not play this fast".

I am not condoning Hustling but, like some one else said, a fool and his money... When I frequented pool halls and bars I never hid my speed and always wanted to see how I would match up against the best there. But why would anyone play someone they did not know for money and not think that there was a chance they were not seeing the person?s true speed??? It has also been said that Hustling takes place in all walks of life. Does a person research the value and dependability of a car by asking the salesman at the dealership? Some people believe that they are getting an unbelievable deal in life, so to speak. Instead they should be aware of the red flags waving. Do you bet against someone that says ?I bet you I can.....?? Why would you bet with a stranger on anything, thinking you had the better of them? Again I do not condone Hustling, but unless you think you are hustling the hustler, none of the above takes place. Having said all the above, I will say that I definitely would try to steer a friend away from a hustle. But what would happen to him if I wasn?t there or after I leave?

Does anyone want to buy some authenticated material?

U will not know that u got hustled when a true master of that art played you.So u will not be able to help your friend in steering him away.

I agree, but most Hustles have some of the same tell-tale signs. Your first clue should be the offer to raise the stakes. Whether that takes place over a few games, hours, days...

Mike

The hustler is getting the bad wrap here but what about the person being hustled in the case of an up the ante scenario it is played off of the hustle'es greed. Not being hustled is easy set your case limit in your own mind let's say $150. Then set the match up on a frozen amount IE: Race to 3 for $50 and freeze up (guarantee) $150. If you for any reason change your case then it is your own fault. You did not get hustled. It would be like going to Vegas and saying those slot machines took all my money when the fact is you gave them all your money.

One thing I don't think anyone has mentioned yet is the fact that some people are just going to throw their money away anyways. I'd rather it be me that they threw it away to. I like a good game too much and don't like playing down, so I'm piss poor at trying to put on a hustle. Fortunately, though, I play better when something is on the line.. so either way they're not going to see a strong game out of me until there's something to lose.

I spend most of my time playing and drinking in the same old bar. It's nice to be able to go to most other bars and people still don't know who you are. Finally made APA 7 at the beginning of summer, so I figure I'll start getting out more after a year or so of good practice. A solid "A" or low "Master" local rating should be good enough around here.

People hustle themselves most of the time from what I've seen in the bar. They come in all cocky with money to lose. I got a good kick out of someone that donated when they said before the set (and in a very cocky manner) "I play APA". I just wanted to laugh right at him, since I knew the statement says nothing of a person's skill. It was nearly as good when another cocky player came in with a few of his buddies and said "I play Triple-Master". Whoop-dee-do. It took me and 3 of my friends to match his $100. :D I doubled my $50 and they each doubled what they put in.

The better people think they are, the more they're going to throw away and hustle themselves. I've probably had the bet raised on me more often than I've raised it myself, and it's usual after I've already won and continued to win.

It was around that time...I can remember specifics way better than time..I admire people like Jay H. that can really seem to knock it down with exact dates & events & put them together correctly...lol...I was in on maybe 18 to 20k worth...He definately was a peach but could also turn someones greed against them if you didn't have all your T's crossed or youe I's dotted...lol.... Sorry...Just got back from Deer camp in Mississippi...that's why i never answered sooner.

Among all the waffle Houses accross USA from Virginia to Arizona and New Mexico waffle House in Houma has the clenest rest rooms.

Ive never been there so consequently i have never seen a clean Waffle House Rest Room. I dare anyone to go to a WH, use the RR first and then eat. Almost cant be done.

theres all manners of hustlers in all games that involve money. it comes down to motive. is what your doing good for you or is it good for the game..once a game gets far enough into the public eye, a code of conduct soon follows

nostroke,
Next time u see a waffle house in any cities southern states except oklahoma cty you may consider to stop and try their menu.their hashbrowns smothered, chicken sandwich plate,T bone steak, eggs with grits and many others are all yemmi, yemmi.one time after clubbing I pulled the car to waffle house in a small southern town, around 3am for breakfast and my date a yankee girl (oops,a girl from northeast,my apologies ) refused to get out of the car to eat in a place like wafflehouse. She did not know what she was missing.

Vag my man, I eat at the WH all the time-I get "The All Star Special" Its quick, good and comparable to Denny's new prices. One thing though, believe it or not, there is not an ounce of real butter in the joint. The waffle would be so much better without that glue they make you use. Ive considered bringing my own butter but as you say, it's usually a late night stop while on the road.

Your date probably had seen their rest rooms somewhere else and like i say I never go into the rr unless im desparate and never before i eat.

If i have pleny of time and dough, i do Cracker Barrel. Real Butter and REAL Maple Syrup. Yummy!
