If Alex and Nick Varner played 9 to 5 who would you bet on and how much would you bet?

Nick must be 75 or so by now,I can not remember seeing him play in the last 20 years

just for fun ,who do you like and ,why and would you bet $1000 or $10,000

Also,I am tired of hearing that Efren is too old,if SVB were to offer Efren the break at one pocket, who would you bet on and how much

I am just having fun,but wouldn't it be fun to see these games?

Those match ups don’t interest me in the least. Seeing a guy play way below his potential due to old age is just depressing and sad. Watching an up and coming young gun is way more exciting!

I like that question. I assume Varner would be all practised up and playing some good pool considering the score he could win, so I'd have to take him. But Damn it's always hard to bet against Alex so I'd have to take him. But Damn again, Varner only has to run five balls so I will take him again. Of course Alex can run out from almost anywhere so I will take him. So I will take whoever is breaking.

Or better yet I will just go snapper fishing.

I doubt Nick would be allowed to go to 5.

That # is made available to folks who aren't likely to run 3 balls from mid game on.

Nick is 70. I was standing a few feet away from him on Saturday and he looks to be in great health! He taught students and was on his feet for 8+ hours and didn't seem tired in the least. His stroke looked great. With that being said, he makes way too much money with his billiard supply business, teaching, etc to need to match up. With that being said, I'm sure he wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.Getting 9-5 I think Nick would train up. I also think he would like it. I'm sure he hasn't forgotten what brought him so much success, and I'm sure he hasn't lost his championship competitive drive and spirit. He runs a successful billiard supply business and works hard every day to make that the success it is. I think Alex would experience the world class wedge that Nick perfected when he was the best one pocket player in the world beating everyone (including Efren) for a period. I think 9-5 would be a close match these days, but I would like Nick. (And Alex is my OTHER favorite player, and the best one pocket player on the planet IMO)

Efren STILL plays every day, competes pretty heavy, matching up in the PI. I would LOVE Efren getting the break from SVB in One Pocket.

Great day in the morning

Someone actuallystuck to the question

Nick is only 70
At 9to 5,we have one person who thinks he could win

Does anyone think Alex can give him 9 to 5?

Does anyone think Tony can give Billy S 9 to 5 ?

why does the game haf to be played from 9 to 5?

seeing any of these players that have a 1 million robustness, legacy, in a decision
precision making format that takes about an hour or so would be good for investing.

No one with half-a-brain would allow NV to only go to 5. Totally agree here BB. Nick, even at 70, plays too good for that kinda spot.

Nicky and Alex are two of my favorite people.
...I would rather see them as partners.

You guys go get a team

I think it depends on the length of the set and length of the sessions... I also think Alex is the last of the young guys I'd pick to tangle with.

Yeah, don't discount that 5. That's not an EASY 5 for anyone on earth when playing the Lion. Not even for the Kentucky Colonel, Nicky V.

its hard to run 9 from a wedge
just sayin
i still think alex would win

I saw Nick 4-5 years ago warming up for an exhibition, he ran 2 racks of 15 ball rotation, that to me was more impressive than the trick shots he did. Great stroke and focus, also a very cool guy. Granted he's no spring chicken but I don't think he'd get run over.
