i am familar with the Viper,Hampton Ridge,5280,Action,Lucassi,Star cue,etc brands, but we are bothered with the taper, and chemical treating problems now, because the US players and distributors didn't know how they are made.

China

Most players that play down here want an American made cue. They like the cost of the Chinese made cues, but they don't seem to last as long as the American made cues. I assume over time this will change, but as of right now most of the people I know are sticking with American.

yes,i know,i everspoke with Pechauer cues,he told me this also.we are trying to make the cues as good as possible, under some customer's advice to imporve, except some distributors, also some us makers use our cues now.but i don't want to say their name, because this might not be good to their fame.Pechauer is not our customer,i only talked with him.

I think the problem is that 6 year olds don't have the skills to apply finish or treatments. If you put the chemicals in a super soaker water pistol, I think you will achieve much better success. :p

Zooropa17, In case with your limited english you don't understand what this poster means. He probably is under the mistaken and misinformed impression that all the China cue factories use child or slave labor to manufacture pool cues. Don't worry any questios you have, I think most of us would be happy to answer if we can.:)

I have seen and played with a couple of Chinese cues and thought for the price they were a helluva a value. I have no idea as to their durability.

UM UM Good!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Smell that Rice A Cooken!!!!!!!!! Chosimnida Odashe!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D or is it Rice Buds, who knows anyway:)

I use a cue made in Taiwan (Kao Fa Cue) and it is great!! The quality and durabililty is great. Give them another decade and the quality will be right there.

Also to Classiccues and Manwon, the fact that you are taking the piss out of someone else's nationality is disgusting. I will leave it at that

Manwon, the fact that you are taking the piss out of someone else's nationality is disgusting

First of all, how do you take the piss out of someones Nationality!!!!!!!!!!
My comments had nothing to do with piss or Nationality, they were directed to the poster that I answered, and they were in no way negative. I lived all over Asia, over the last twenty three years, my wife is Korean / Chinese and I love Asian Culture.

Oh!!!!!!!by the way MANWON in the Korean Language means 10,000 won which is the largest Bill in the Korean monetary system.

Have a great Night!!!!!!! and please relax, oh and do not step on a Kiwi bird they are cute little fellows!!!!!!!!!!:D

thank you, rackem,i know he is unfriendly, but we never use children to work, that is a incorrect media report, the workers are very experienced in making a cue,we are now speaking with McDermott about their import line.

I make and repair cues, In Washington state. I own a pool room, which has a large retail store, and I sell import cues from China, South Korea, and Japan. Most of these cues have a straight non-protapper, with a shaft diameter of 13 1/8 to 13 1/2mm. Many young players buy these cues from me because of their pricing. Then many of them have me change the shaft Tapper and diameter. The most popular shaft tapper I use is a extended Pro-tapper. A normal Pro-tapper, keeps the shaft diameter approximately equal to the tip diameter 12 inches back. An extended Pro-tapper for me is 14 to 16 inches back. Also many players like a shaft diameter slightly smaller than 13mm. In most cases this could be between 12.70 and 13mm.

Hope this helps.

I have No problems with China Cue Maker's, I think Lucasi has made a statement, alot of cue for the money. I do believe the China cues tend to have a thin butt, Id like to see them a tab bit larger in diameter yet not butt heavy.

Id also like the Option to get a 60" cue as well. alot of US players turn to Custom Cue makers because of the standard length, I suspect a 5% sales increase by offering a 60" cue.

Spend some R&D on Low Deflection Tip Technology, there is much more to a cue than just a shaft.

Send me 10,000$ a month for 5 years and I will be your GO to GUY..

you'll also sell more cues if you offer Joint Protectors free with the Purchase of a new cue, no matter the cost.

are you there for billiards business?i am in zhejiang province.a little far from shandong, but i often go to shanghai to meet customers;)

What specific aspects are you wanting to know about?

I'd say the shaft taper needs to be around 14-16" for entry level players.

The finish needs to be consistent, thicker, and shiny.

The male pin and insert need to be concentric to, not only themsleves, but to the wood and collar.

The wrap needs to be glued on with more than spray adhesive (Lucasi).

Stop using plastic!

Make the weights interchangable.

Let me know if you need more.......

This is one of the key things that must happen. Otherwise shafts are not interchangable. Extra shafts and aftermarket shafts can not be matched up properly.:(
The pin and insert must be centered.:)
