i am a little confused.. ( cueball controll)

Gentlemen:

I put Dean's DVD into stop action. When the cue ball returned to the left, the object ball went into the right hand side of the pocket. Vise-versa on the other draw shot.

Dean also plays with an elevated cue stick. Enough said....SPF=randyg

I wish I had read this response before I left the SBE, so I could show you that you're totally incorrect in this assumption. Someone could have a long bridge, and a short finish/followthrough. They are only the same when both the bridge and backswing lengths are identical. BTW, the pool swing is only like the golf swing in 2 ways...the CB is at rest until the swing puts it into play, and you strike the ball at the bottom of the swing.

Scott,

A pendulum swings the same distance forward as it does back. This is a natural motion, which when duplicated as a stroke in pool, usually yields the smoothest motion. It's the exact same for all other sports. Tennis, golf, etc. The backhand swing is equal to the follow through, as that's the natural distance the body needs to slow down the follow though.

It sounds possible, but may be one of those special circumstance shots..

With enough force you can overcome any throw factor for the shot, right? And with a proper hit for a diagonal spin, couldn't the draw come off at an angle?

Other than that, it would seem that any slower shot would initially swerve to be able to come off at an angle. Hitting a hair to the right to offset for the left would be counterproductive for trying to have the ball return to the left, imho. Also, to some extent, maybe the spin correction could bend the ball over longer draw shots.
