I am disappointed...

I thank, Shorty

I read all of your original post Shorty, and I agree with you.

The meeting of the minds came when you agreed to pay $125 for what you thought was the only things that where going to be done to the cue, and is documented.

Beyond that, the person doing the work "assumed" resonsibility for doing the extra work without consulting you first to see if that what the "owner" would have done to it before hand.

Thanks for the tip :)

I would agree with him too if that's the full story, but I have a good hunch that it's not.

I'm glad everyone is seeing this the right way. Shorty is a freakin' nightmare, anyone who does business with him in the future BEWARE.

Nit Wit

Its more like taking your car to a body shop and by law they can charge 10 to 15% more than the written estimate if they find additional things that need to be done after they start, and this is what happened.
Do everyone a favor and get a job as FL's rack boy, or take up lawn bowling because the equipment don't need as much maintenance.

Well looks like Shorty is more concern about his cue than the $25.

Maybe u have learn a lesson from that incident.Next time if ur going to repair ur cue etc, then i suggest u to really tell them what u really want, tell them seriously with this type of face - + :)

So he will know that ur serious about ur cue,and want nothing more than just what u have said.Cause when i look at ur face,i see that ur a cheerful guy, loves to smile, etc.Try not to smile too much when u are doing something that is important.Maybe he thought that u dont mind if he do some modification on ur cue.

Well maybe u cant really blame him for doing that to ur cue,u need to be serious about ur work.Anyway,i hope to see a picture of that cue,to see how bad it really was as u mentioned in ur post ;)

I don't know about this. I'm siding on Shorty a little bit here but I think he could have been more specific about the work that NEEDED to be done and only should have to be done and made that point absolutely firm.

But it should also be Scoty's responsibility as a repairman to inform Shorty of the extra work that he was going to do before he did it. Its the principle of it all. The veneer work was not something that he wanted and thus SHOULD NOT have been done. Even if it was only $30 extra in charges. What if it was a $5000 cue and the work was supposed to cost you $500 and he tacked on another $200 for additional charges like a new ivory ferrule or joint because the grade of the ivory was bad? Or if he found out that the joint was bad and put another one for other $100? For all you guys who can't see past that simple point, I feel sorry for you.

I knew it would turn into a "Flame Shorty" thread...as I expected. Nice to Drivermaker and his "posse" in full force. I would appreciate many of you to take the time to read the post fully, twice even, and then engage your brain before you start typing. No where in here do I attack Scot. He was nice on the phone and did good work on this cue, but again, I will not use him myself because of the lack of communication. I heard from other sources that this is common practice with him.

I did contact Scot and ask him about the green veneer mark. He explained that it was due to Schon's shotty work. To me that made no sense.

Yes, my phone number, my CELL number even was on the invoice, but yet I never received a call saying he received the cue nor shipped the cue. I had to do all the calling.

I compare it to taking your car to a garage and the mechanic decides to give you an oil change on top of the transmission fluid change. Yeah it's only an extra 20 bucks on the bill, and small in comparison to the total cost...but did you WANT an oil change?

The veneer was best left alone I believe...I will post a picture later.

Shorty

Especially, if they put the wrong oil in the car. The veneer should have been left alone unless you specifically requested it. If it stands out now then the whole thing should be taken down to the wood and redone.

Twice I have had repairment take it upon themselves to do things liek this and TWICE my cues were RUINED for me and the resale value was lowered to the point of being ridiculous.

I don't know anything about this particular cue nor have I ever dealt with Proficient and or Scott Sherbine. I have heard nothing but praise until now about Proficient's work and I have reccomended them.

My take is that if you are upset enough to post your dissatisfaction then you should have been upset enough to take it up with Proficient before putting it on the board.

To me, this is last resort. When you have tried everything else put it up here for the public to decide.

It's not the $25 bucks fellas. If I have a posted price then that's the price. Anything else I do without authorization from the customer is out of the goodness of my heart, and woe is me if I screw it up. I have paid dearly for screwing up people's cues and cases before.

I dunno if it's your fault, but the latches on some older instroke cases sure did suck. Everyone I know who has one had one of the latches break at one time or another. What were those latches made out of? Gold colored and hardened pidgeon poop?

Drivermaker didn't cause your problems dipshit...YOUcaused your OWN problems by writing such a scathing post about the work and then crying like a little baby that you were screwed out of $25 lousy bucks which sounded more than justified for the extra work. $25 bucks is SURELY not going to make anyone over at Proficient richer...maybe $100 or $125 more would help grease the pocket...but $25 bucks is peanuts, except for a cry baby whiner like you.

If they charged it...it needed to be done. Otherwise, if they didn't when you got the cue back you'd have started ANOTHER thread saying what a shitty job they did and it needed to be sent back. You'd also be bi*ching about the extra money that you needed to spend on the shipping to get it to them...although you would have conveniently forgotten that it would cost them extra to send it back to you a second time and $10 bucks would have been eaten out of THEIR charge.

I have NO posse. Many of the people that responded on here about your big whining mouth have never cross posted with me and I don't even know them.
Here you go again...blaming this on ME and the POSSE as another victimization because you're "in a wheelchair". Hey...Johnny Cochran played the "race card" in the OJ trial...how many times are you going to keep playing the "victim in the wheelchair card"? It's getting real old and sickening already.

EVERYBODY on here DID ENGAGE their brain before typing. Is that another way of you saying that they didn't think at all before typing, or are ALL STUPID? I'd say the only person that didn't engage their brain is YOU!
Why don't you just get out a full box of Kleenex and spend the rest of the day crying in them you cry baby whiner.

I wanna sign up for this posse. Hey DM are there membership dues or anything like that? (may be a good idea to weed out the riff raff. @ $25 should be enough to get 'em to complain and not join.) We should really have a T-Shirt to show our support too.

I am not a part of anyone's posse ...well. let me say that I am not a part of a posse here on this thread BUT here is what I think.

Before you posted such a thread, you should have contacted them and tried to resolve it. It looks like you didn't do this.

Now, apparently this guy has a pretty good name in the business, because if he didn't there wouldn't be so much defense for him.

Ok, now what I would have done AFTER I had done the first steps above, is posted this same message with before and after pictures.....

So, you have missed steps one and two and gotten to three before completion of the sequence of events needed to correctly address this issue.

Shorty ~ I have ALWAYS liked you and DM you are my Bud, so let's all get along...well most of us that is! lol! :D

DM's posse? Flaming? I didn't flame you at all. If this dragon breathes her fire, believe me you'll feel it. You bought something off of e-bay - obviosuly "as is" and you sought the services of a very well respected person to repair the existing damage. They did the best they could trying to fix it. Whether or not they called you, the extra work was done for an additional $25.00 which - if you're upset about that - ask for it back - or you should have never paid it. 25 bucks? Come on. You've come on here and posted a ridiculous 11 paragraph critique of your side of the story - and nowhere in those 11 paragraphs do you state that you gave this gentelman the opportunity to correct the problem. I don't need to be part of a posse to figure out that you have a bad reputation for making poor choices and then tossing the blame on others. That is vividly apparant by the tone you are displaying here. That doesn't make you a bad person, nor does it mean that I don't like you and that I want to be your enemy. It just means you should learn to give someone the opportunity to correct things before you come on here and blast them publicly. Thats unfair.

DM, I think your a bit out of line with this response.

I am not a part of anyone's "posse". I get along with DM but I don't just jump into the mix of things because he's there. I form my own opinions & I am my own person. My aggrevation with you stems from reading your posts, not from what DM thinks. I know people that you have done business with & I see the things that you say on here. Knowing the things that I know both from what you say & what I've been told by people that actually do business with you & not by what DM thinks... MFB, DM's not as out of line as you might think.
