I am officially announcing my candidacy to become a voting member on the BCA

First let me thank everyone that has weathered the cold long hard road to attend my Viking Tour events over the past 14 years. I thank you all of you for the support and encouragement you have given me.

The journey we are on today will hopefully lead our sport to new heights by bringing organized competition back to the sport and game of pool that we so dearly love. Over the past decade, our sport and the recognition of our sport here in the US as been on a steady decline. The low number of new players entering organized competition along with the lack of support from within and outside our industry is now at an all-time low.

My goal as a full voting member of the BCA will be to encourage, address and take action to bring our sport back to the glorious days of organized competition with a renewed interest in professional pool and for individuals working within the billiard industry as a respectable profession.

I will only do this with your full support and encouragement. To become a voting member of the BCA which carries 1 full vote toward industry trends and opens many doors to make the necessary changes to achieve our goals the BCA charges a fee of $1,000. Yes, I could simply send in the money myself but right now this is a campaign. I am on the trail to better our sport. To effectively do this I need the support to come from everyone that shares the same goals for the future of our sport. Therefore, if you feel that I would make an effective leader and I have your trust that I will do my best to achieve the stated goals and you feel we need to make a change, I need you to make a donation.

Your donation can be anywhere from $1 to the full $1,000. You can make your donation in one of two ways.

1. Send your donation via PayPal to email address vikingtour2@yahoo.com

2. Send a Check or Money Order to:

8002007665, Inc.
PO Box 94
Rockmart, GA 30153

can we just donate directly to you at the viking events as well?

Sure, please bring a Money Order or Check.

I want to keep a complete trackable financial record of this. For that purpose PayPal works best.

Chris, will you be at the NC event this weekend ?

I'm in

I haven't had much direct dealings with Mike but I have kept a close eye on him and the Viking Tour for years. This is the kind of person we want with voting rights in the BCA.

Hard working, knowledgeable, honest, and smart enough to keep a tour healthy in these times, a lot of people could and should learn from his example.

I'm in too Mike.

Just remember - voting "power" is only "powerful" if you have control over what you are voting on. You won't hold much power if you're only voting on what color drapes they want in the front office.

Mike,
FWIW, I believe that you have the support to start a new organization. We have sat back and waited 25 years for the BCA to do something - anything - to properly promote the sport to the masses. I gave up hope on them 12 years ago. I will never send them another dime out of my pocket and I have my reasons.

I would support and assist you in starting a completely new organization that will serve a purpose in our industry. Let's promote POOL, the players, the excitement, and beauty of the game. Waiting around for the BCA to do something won't help our sport no matter who we have voting on their issues. They are internally focused towards their internal agendas while we should be internally focused on external exposure for the game of pool. IMO, we shouldn't wait another day or waste another dollar on an organization that has been ineffective thus far.

David the BCA is a NPO and everything is done by a vote (which includes who is on the board to who is the President of the BCA). Having someone on the inside like myself who of course would try to attain a board position would assist and provide input to what is voted on. Currently the BCA has a renewed interest in our sport. Right now it appears to be limited but things are not always what they seem. Thre are many within and outside of the BCA that want to just throw the lot of the board member out but that won't happen nor should it. Many of the BCA board members also have a vision and they have much needed experience and knowledge. Everything can be done through the proper channels and that is what I am hoping to influence with my vote.

I hope you will find a way to see past "what was" and look towards "what can be".

Thanks,

Mj

a two-pronged approach

Dave,

I often go with a two-pronged approach to changing things working from within and outside. I could be wrong but I don't think now is the time to start a new organization. I have seen the damage two or more weak organizations do to many sports and I don't think pool players are willing to back any organization enough to make it strong right now. Maybe Mike is right and the BCA does have some good folks in it that just need a catalyst to get them moving. Maybe not too, but if Mike is willing to invest his time, effort, and knowledge, I'm willing to invest a few bucks to give him a shot at making some real changes.

A local candidate got roughly fifty thousand votes a few elections ago. He needed one more to win! We never know how powerful one vote may be.

THANK YOU easy-e.

easy-e (Eric) is right now in Iraq. I am so humbled that he found it necessary to contribute to this cause. I am sure he has many other things to worry about besides the state of pool in the US.

Eric, my thank you is for much more than just your contribution.

My most humblest and sincerest THANK YOU goes out to you.
