I bought a Cuetec

Thats thunderbolt right? I tried it too! It was so nice, but also they got another product shaft called "Vortex" It also hits really nice and I liked it more than thunderbolt tbh, but afterall I got 314/2 for Cuetec and its better than both for me :p

but no matter what, it all comes down to your own feeling, u might enjoy thunderbolt more than any other shaft, have fun!

if you end up not liking the fiberglass, you could always just buy an extra thunderbolt or vortex shaft which are wood on the outside. it'll match perfectly too, same joint diameter and ring work.

Thanks to everybody for the comments. I know there is wood inside the shaft, but I wasn't planning on sanding it. I wiped it down with a dry cloth and it played great today. I probably should wash my hands more often as was suggested.

Unfortunately Cuetec's website has zero information about the Python (well, about pretty much any of their products, actually). But I found these pictures with a GIS:

So it looks like they are the same except for the fiberglass. Anyway, I'll just take good care of it and that's that. I'm too afraid of screwing it up to sand it anyway ;)
"High-tech material". That's pretty funny.

My domestic partner wants a Cuetec... She doesn't play much unless she comes out with me every now and then. The other day I was fu%kin around with one at the shop and I really liked how it played... I might get her the Cuetec and use it as a break cue myself.

After having it for 2 weeks now, I must admit that it does get pretty sticky. The Cuetec cleaner doesn't work that great, either. I think i'm gonna have to get some talc.

The talc thing gets old pretty fast. You might have to go with a glove or one of those sleeve things.

It's too bad that you're having trouble already. I had the same problem a few years ago. I tried everything, rubbing alchohol, Armor All, Pledge wipes, sanding, gloves, it sucked. I finally broke down and bought a new cue with a wood shaft and haven't had any problems since.

I had a phenolic tip put on my old cuetec and it made a pretty decent break cue for a while till I picked up the Pred BK2.

Good luck!

sand it! c'mon you know you want to :)
It's not unbearable yet...and I've got almost a full bottle of cleaner...so i'll give it a few months and see where I am. I can't justify spending any more money until I get a little better at the damn game ;)

Yeah, i'm not looking forward too much to carrying talc around, but we'll see how it goes for a bit...

This happened to me using Cuetec. but didn't bother me alot, I often use gloves. but right now I play with a 314 Shaft for my Cuetec, Sybrit company (The cue maker who handled it was really pro, his name is KJ and he's actually a member of this forums *Thanks to him*) actually did it for me, and they did it really well. feel free to buy one, u'd love it ;)

Nawaf.

Welcome to AZB, Quatsch! I normally have fun with folks who buy cuetechs but it's true what many have said, play for awhile then decide what you'd like to go with next. Hell, my first cue here in the States was a Minnesota Fats $45 el cheapo & it worked damn well. Having used snooker cues all my life I was clueless about pool cues until I found AZB. I bought myself a Dominiak for all of $150 a year ago & love the thing, the el cheapo became a very handy break stick.

The main thing is you've got your own cue, you're playing the game & having fun. Just watch out for those people who don't like pool. There is something wrong with them & are not to be trusted!:D
