Bought some fake Moori tips about 5 years ago and didn't know they were fake .
.
I think I installed one or two of them on a couple of production cues I took in on trade fixed them up and resold them.

Several I have destroyed just trying to install and trim even to the ferrule and shape.

Delaminating is what is happening .
At first I thought it was me doing something wrong ,I have been replacing tips for 3 or 4 years at the time so I didn't know everything, and knew nothing about fake tips.

I am bringing a old green label Mali cue back to life and completely redoing this old cue.
And I thought I would install one of the moori medium tips on the cue.

Both tips delaminated and with further research I found out the tips I bought are fake .

I have talked to one AZB member and he thinks I should out the member who sold me these tips years ago..
Before everyone assumes I am talking about Joe Barringer of CC I am not .

I considered the member who sold me these tips some what as a friend.
and the transaction took place years ago.
I am not really upset at the member, who sold me these tips ,because I don't think he knew they were fake tips'
The transaction took place years ago and I don't know if the member is even still active .

Last I had heard he was going to work for Tiger billiard products as a sales rep .

I am not wanting a refund, it was years ago, and I have learned who or where to buy tips from now .....
I think I bought about 200.00 worth of tips, and I plan on burning these tips and trying to do some cool photography as they burn.
They are fake tips . and I am not going to have any fake tips in my shop ....

The Question is should I contact the person who sold these tips to me.
And how should I word the message if I was to pm this member who I don't think is active on here any more ...

If the seller didn't know he was selling fake tips to start with it would be really unfair to just out this member when he didn't know ...

What do you guys think

That stinks. I think at least let the person know for the off chance they are still selling them. I would want to know if something I was selling was fake but didn't realize it.

Go to cuecomponents website. He has pages of information on the fake moori's that Atlas Billiard Supply sells. I don't know if there are other fake ones as well.

From the threads about fake Moori tips in ask the cue maker section and the way they delaminate.
I posted pictures of the moori tips I have and got several pm's from fellow cue makers suggesting they are fake .

Not being a tip expert but I have bought a few thousand dollars in tips , most tips don't delaminate or fall apart if barley touched after installing .

The tips are junk, not worthy to be on any cue.

The tips didn't come from Joe B

I was thinking of sending the seller a link to this thread..

I saw recently that Kamui is now including serial number labels on each tip so you can look up the number on the website and see that it is authentic.

I believe that is how it is supposed to work.

Anyone know if Moori is trying to stay ahead of counterfeiters in any way?

Telling the world

Definitely let them know about it. If it was an honest mistake so be it. If not shame on them and tell the world. You did not pay for it with a fake check.

That sounds reasonable. not out to make any enemies.
Not looking for a refund.
The transaction took place to many years ago...

The fake tips coming out of china is problem ......
I think the problem Is allot worse then what we think .

Millions of fake tips cant be sold by a bunch hobby shop cue repairman .
There has to be big businesses ordering them in and selling them retail too...

This is two fake moori tips glued together.
The first one delaminated ( the dark layer next to the red fiber pad .
The rest is another fake moori glued on the single layer that stayed stuck to the fiber pad.
The second moori tip top delaminated in like thin air, just flaked off , on its own .
Your breath could of blown the tip apart .

deer antler ferrule

I am not happy with morri , 10 years ago it was the best tip on the market.
No factory support on helping us buy the real tips from them >>>>>>>>>>>

Kamui Is all over the fake tip thing ........

I

Hey Mike, possible you accidentally installed on wrong side? That causes immediate de-lam on most laminated tips, especially Moori's. Happened to me once:speechless: BTW- Joe's inventory's the real deal.

-Kat,

-Kat,

I disagree. Would you like to buy the ones I have that I bought from him ?

I'd at least let them know if you can get a hold of them...

I bought some brown Kamikaze tips here... Installed a few and they seem very good so far... If you haven't tried them yet I think they're worth a look see.

-Kat,

Hi Dave

No not possible ,, I triple checked , I thought it might of got the tip hot burnishing the first tip.
So I glued another one on and was extra careful .
The second tip delaminated so easy it was scary, I cant pass that issue onto any customer even if the tip was the real deal .
Which I do not now think there are original authentic moori medium tips .

I didn't buy these tips from Joe or Atlas Billiard supply.
I fully understand your concerns, but where these tips came from besides another AZB member is the only info I have .

Without Moori tips continuous support in keeping there customers updated this issue of fake moori tips on the market is not going to stop .....

Tips

Allot of new layered tips on the market , been dealing with Tom Hay ( Ultra Skin Tips )
which I like .
I like Tom as a friend, and I like his products ..

Been thinking of adding on the Kamikaze tips too.

Thank you
