I bought fake moori Tips and didnt know it

From the threads about fake Moori tips in ask the cue maker section and the way they delaminate.
I posted pictures of the moori tips I have and got several pm's from fellow cue makers suggesting they are fake .

Not being a tip expert but I have bought a few thousand dollars in tips , most tips don't delaminate or fall apart if barley touched after installing .

The tips are junk, not worthy to be on any cue.

The tips didn't come from Joe B

I was thinking of sending the seller a link to this thread..

thanks for the reply mmike

Bad Tips

I don't think it is ever wrong to give a person the chance to do the right thing.
If you guys were supposed to be friends , he will believe you when you say they are fakes or no good for whatever reason.
If he didn't know they were bad , the right thing in my mind is to split the cost with you.
That is what I would do, and it is what I would hope my friends would do.
That is about as fair as you can get.

Hi

Right up front I said I considered the person who sold me these tips some what of a friend.

I PM this person after I started this thread, mainly because I really not good at saying something negative about a transaction that took place years ago.
Really it is pretty thin ...........
Plus I didn't want to loose someone who I consider a friend, and I cant handle any arguing.
Not going to argue over some POS tip that not worth putting on any cue .

I got a PM back from the seller just now, Just as I thought he had no idea.
He had bought Moori Tips from two different suppliers, and don't know which supplier was selling the Fake Moori tips....

He offered to make this right if that is what I was looking for .
That was very nice of him considering the deal took place years ago..
That wouldn't be right either, $hit the transaction took place years ago .

My best advise is buy your Moori tips from E Bay seller Joe Cracken .
That is the word I have received from the cue makers section.

I am one of many cue makers who have bought fake moori tips .

To bad Moori Tips couldn't post a video on how to spot the fake tips ......

I've had no issues with the Mooori's I buy from Joe..... Now his replacement snipers and some others determinate a lot.

I am not even getting into all the knock offs and violation of FTC regulations of claims of where crap is made..... What I will get into is that Moori is aware and they are supposed to have his website done soon in an English version so you can order directly thru him......

He made a bad decision on who to make as his importer and they did what they do which is have tips made in china... Common practice in these schemes is to order just enough real ones to keep your channel open and then order the knock offs in way bigger numbers.....

As far as how to tell them apart... Buy a microscope and durometer... There are definite differences to the layers, leather and glues...

That goes for Moori, Kamui, G2 and determining which tips are the exact same tips with just different names when you add hardness and COR testing to the mix...

Edit, I was mistaken. These tips are genuine, but an older version of the packaging.

These are the tips I believe to be fakes I had from at least 6 years ago. Now that I think more about it, I don't remember where I got them.

The tips you have are from before they changed the packaging in 2007 or so. The are Moori III. I have several of those as well. Those are good tips. Plus the hologram is right. What do you think is not right about them?

Thank you very much for posting this info ,,,

I have heard thru the grape vine they are trying to get a website up to for a long time too .
Now it seems its been a long long time to get the website up and running .
If you were my boss and said get a website up and running, I think I could get it done in 72 hrs max .....

Even if I didn't know what I was doing, I can still hire someone who does .

You wouldn't run a business this way ?

I'm the guy who was going to help him get some information out there in English. I'm not sure what the reason is, but I haven't heard back from him for a while. Must not be a priority I guess...

Thank you! I am mistaken. I thought they were fake because of the back of the package. On "Moori Billiard Cue Tip", the part highlighted in black is "Billiard Cue Tip". The other pictures I had seen had only the "Moori" highlighted in black, and the "oo" and the "i" were different, as seen on this page:

I will edit my post above.

I think you should privately contact the original seller and tell them of your discovery these years later and give him the link to this thread.

That is all.

I did, he was willing to try to fix the issue if I had one with him which I don't.
Nothing shady on his end he got scammed too.

Nothing more needs to be done, imo.

( You could provide a link as to how to identify counterfeit Moori tips )
