I can't get my cue's from the police

I had an old Joss West sized by the police in connection with a murder investigation in the fall of 1989. Luckily they cleared much of the property within weeks and I got my cue back before the case went to trial. The case finally was resolved 6 years later with the killer pleading guilty to 1st degree murder.

To ease Willie’s mind.

..the rest of a story that deserves sharing.

It was a case that changed the law in Alaska. The killer was 16 when he executed the victim in his home for his car keys. His age was the factor that kept it tied up in the courts for years. He was in custody from about 36 hours after the body was discovered. As a result of this heinous crime the victim’s brother became very active in politics and working with a state legislator was able to draft and pass a law referred to as “The Juvenile Waver Bill”. Essentially all offenders 16 and over that are charged with certain specified violent crimes are automatically waved into adult court. The victim’s brother now serves on the Alaska State Legislature himself.

The killer was sentenced to the maximum on the books in Alaska, 99 years (with 10 suspended). Currently he is in medium security private prison in Arizona training dogs.

If you were referring to my post I did not make it clear the law had no effect on the case I described. The killer was subject to the laws as they existed at the time the crime was committed. Which it took 6 years in the courts for the laws to run their course and determine he would stand trial as an adult.

To ease Willie’s mind........

breakup,
Whew...what a relief. I was starting to wonder if my current 2 bodyguards would be adequate for our grudge match; I guess I'm safe.

I've got an appointment in the morning with the county evidence room to get my cues back.I was robbed in March 06 ,I'm getting my cue's.

So 3 and a half years later you get your stuff back??

Congrats if that's the real deal. Hope they stored it in an upright position for you...

PS Too lazy to read a 3 year old thread.

First and foremost, glad you are getting your cues back...

Second, the American justice system is a joke.....this is unreal....

When you get the the are going to hand you some VINTAGE K-mart cue and say "Heres you stuff,Have a nice day":grin::grin:

Let us know...

NoBull9, please post again to let us know if you got your cues back, and if they are in undamaged condition.

NoBull9

The reason they are giving the sticks back is because the Chief of Police's kid is no longer playing Stick Ball.

I will follow up after I have the cues in hand with a what not todo when pushing the county police buttons.

I have my cues everything is in good shape,I will haft to order a schon shaft but pleased to have my cues. When they brought the cues out they refused to let me open the case until signed for.Anyway's if your cue are ever stolen hope it doesn't happen in gwinnett ga.And don't let up on the phone calls call everyone possible involved with the case. And most important hire a local attorney that play's golf with the DA.

I just got off the phone with the police chief he tell's me he will contact the last detective on the case to call me.He informed me that he would ask him to release the items to me and contact me to scedule a time so that I can pick the cue's up.I contacted the internal affaires department with a complaint and it didn't take 20 minutes to get a responce from the chief. So I guess I'll wait for my call.

Bingo!! Police departments are some of he worst public service organizations when it comes to issues like this. It sucks, but sometimes you have to sic the "Police" police on them.

Also, for anyone else who finds themselves in a similar situation, a tactfully written letter to the editor of the local newspaper can sometimes get the "Chief Wiggams" of the world off their asses.
