About 5 months ago my car was broken into and my cue's where stolen.Well I've been lucky the cues and case have been recovered the person that stole the cue's has admitted to the crime but has not been arrested.Oh I forgot to tell you I found out about the cues being recovered 4 months ago.Still no arrest and the case still has not been asigned to a detective.I've called twice a month or more to find out when I can recover my items and I get the same run around.A detective did contact me about two months ago to let me know he had spoken with the person's that took the cue's and that the person would turn them self in asoon as a warrant was issued.Still I don't have my cue the case has now been unasigned and no arrest.I contacted the police again this morning and they could only tell me after 5 months that they didn't know why they havent signed a release on my cue's.But there was knowone I could talk to until Thursday. So any suggestions on how to recover property from a police department.

If you can keep your cool, I would suggest you there directly and try and talk to the Detective or some other human face to face. I might even make up a little white lie, like you qualified for a big amateur event and really need your cues ASAP, as in now!

If that does not work, you might try going to the local media...they love that stuff!

Well, where are the cue's presently? Are they with the person who broke into the car or with the PD?
Either way, u'll need 2 know when the warrant will be executed and if u must wait till a disposition needs to be entered b4 u can get ur cues back or not. U also might want 2 determine what will execute the warrant faster.
I am assuming that a police report has been filed for both the breaking in the car and the cues being stolen. If not, as the detective if it would be faster to serve the warrant if u did so.

Besides, two counts are better than one. :o

Just my 2 cents.

Best Regards

The cue's have been at the pd for a few months now in the evidence room.I've spoken with the same women in the evidence room about every other week to confirm that the cues are still there. The person that stole the cues left them at a job she got fired from. Her boss opened the case found my card contacted me.I went and identified the cue's called the police they told me to leave the cue's at the office where they turned up.It took them 37 days before they even picked the cues up 3 weeks to log the cues in to eveidence. And now nothing has happened.I can't get any responce I pressed charges filed with a detective and not a thing has changed no arrest no warrant no nothing. The only thing I can think of is the crook must be related to someone that works for the police department.I've emailed the police chief and the head of criminal investigation maybe I will get a reply.

I think it would have been more expeditious to just pick up the cues when her ex-boss called you, then tell the police which would probably wind up in her walking. However, since she'll probably walk anyway at least you'd have your cues.
You do all the work for them and they can't get off their butts to do the related paperwork. Is the chief of police named Chief Wiggum by any chance?

The wheels of justice are egg shaped, and often fall off. If the cues are important enough to you, dropping the charges might be an option.

I wish you the best of luck.

A small cache of our product (Tiger Products) was recovered by Las Vegas police from our grand theft 15 months ago and we have been unable to retrieve our product from the evidence room.

The court case still goes on..................

I had a cue stolen from my car a long time ago and I must say for me, if they had caught who it was, I'd do my best to make sure the person goes through as much hassle as humanly possible.

Reminds me of when my first car was broken into and in the process of being wheeled down the street when someone saw this and they called the police. The cops show up, contact me and I come down (in NY you have to park sometimes blocks away from where you live). They tell me what happens, blah blah blah...

So I look at the cop and say, Well what do I have to do next? Come down to the precinct file reports? Will I be needed to testify at some point? etc.

He looks at me and says - "Your going to press charges? You mean your going to ruin this 'kids' (he was 22) life because of this?"

It put me into a state of shock and finally after a few seconds I snapped out of it and said "Your damn right".

It probably was more that they didn't want to have to go back and do any of the needed paperwork and processing to deal with it but the idea of this person just walking away while I sat there with a car that had a busted steering column that I was going to have to pay for was insane.

The kicker of all of this is it turned out this "kid" was also wanted in 2 other states for auto theft and had pending drug trafficing charges as well and they didn't find any of this out until they actually did bring him down to the precinct and process him. I never saw a penny of money for the $300 damage to my car but the satisfaction was there.

Your best bet is to go there in person and talk to someone.

I just got off the phone with the police chief he tell's me he will contact the last detective on the case to call me.He informed me that he would ask him to release the items to me and contact me to scedule a time so that I can pick the cue's up.I contacted the internal affaires department with a complaint and it didn't take 20 minutes to get a responce from the chief. So I guess I'll wait for my call.

Since you haven't gotten anywhere by yourself with the detective, get a lawyer to contact the DA. See if they can get the ball rolling.

Reading the whole thread before posting may prove your IQ to be perceived higher than it actually is shown....

Go the legal route!

Threaten them with your attorney getting invloved, and mention "law suit". That will light a fire under any cops ass!

Atlanta media stations? You have to be either 2 things to get an "I-team" investigation from Fox5, Channel2, or 11 Alive. Black or Old. Preferably both and to have spent $500,000 of your retirement/kid's college money money trying to help a kid in Nigeria transfer $300,000,000,000 that he happend to find lying around after his father was "Assasinated" by evil warlords.

Who's got them? Dekalb, Fulton, or Gwinnett? From the complete idiocy it sounds like Fulton.

????????????

I would go personally to DA"s office am find out what going on. I don"t think they need you cues to prosecute just pictures an a statement from you. If you filed a police report concerning the theft an can prove ownership just explain you"ll prosecute an you want back your personal property.

I don't know if this info will help but I'll try. I'm a sergeant of a pd just outside Chicago. There are a couple of flaws in your dealings with your local pd.

First, an arrest warrant won't be issued without you going before a judge and signing a complaint. This complaint (and warrant) will have been prepared by an officer who will usually accompany you to court. At this point the judge swears you in, reads your complaint, and if he finds your allegations to be credible, he will sign the complaint and arrest warrant. Remember, an arrest warrant is only needed to pull someone out of their own residence. If this person is seen in public or anywhere that they don't have "standing," they can be arrested immediately without a warrant. This includes their place of business.

Second, did you file a police report when your car was broken into? Did you specify to the reporting officer that you wanted to prosecute if an offender was located? If so, their policy may be that they need to hold the recovered items as evidence until the court case is disposed of. If you're willing to prosecute, be prepared to be without your cues for several months. I've seen extreme cases where a court case has had no final disposition for over a year!

Lastly, your local pd may not think of this incident as high priority, depending on which pd you're dealing with. It's a non violent crime classified as a crime against property. My suggestion to you is get answers to all my questions and go to your pd and speak to someone. You can have a lawyer accompany you but remember, no one likes to be threatened with a law suit. Good luck getting your cues back.

Go to the State Attorney General immediately. He's the head cop in the state.

The cops are real busy people...yeah, they're out there writing tickets for those killers who are smoking in bars. Or those violent-prone pot smokers are taking up the cops time...gotta bust them for saying "far out man" too many times. And please don't forget the horrendous crime of having sex for money...geez, those dangerous crooks need a cop once in a while, too, ya know? That you are a victim of a real crime, means that you are on the bottom of the list. Real crime takes real work to solve and prosecute.

I wonder when they're going to catch the creeps who broke into my house six times? Oh, that's right, they said they weren't going to do anything about that, but the police report was necessary for the insurance company. Silly me.

It's a racket, just like all government rackets...and YOU a double victim: one from the crook and once from the monopoly called the "justice" system. My you fare well.

But we can carry 3 oz of shampoo on a plane!
