i played so bad last night i had night mares and couldnt sleep. who i played i have no chance to beat so losing wasnt the issue, I just couldnt make a ball, i played 2 nights before that and played horrible, and was hoping i would be ok. recently I have been running out good etc. last night was the worst I played months, my back didnt hurt, perhaps i took to many pills so it wouldnt, i dont know. i was embarassed, not losing that never bothers me, hell winning isnt that big of a thing i just like to play good. i wasnt even a C player last night. i'm going to lay in bed all day relax and go play by myself and sort things out. :(

my back is sore today too. i think i took to many muscle relaxors, but still excuses are just ecxuses, i really wanted just to play good and I shit all over myself, 2 nights before i give my friend the 5 who i awalys beat easily in that game, he beat me 9-2, i played worse than that last night. i'm having my girl drive my cue over from vegas today and i'm gonna fix what ever is broken, i'm not out of stroke its something else.

It happens. Just last week I played the best player in the area and dogged it completely. Was I mad that I lost to him? No. I am mad that I played some of the worst pool in my life and didn't know why. All you can do is get back at the table and practice some more. Every now and then taking time off helps clear my mind also. The most important thing is to learn from it, push the bad out of your mind, and move on.

Trying too hard?

I think you were trying too hard, buddy. You didn't just let the game be fun, you were too worried about embarrassing yourself against a strong player. Just guessing here, of course, but the same thing has happened to me many times.

altered states

I'd say not to sweat it too much. As a fellow back sufferer I sometimes have to take more pills than I should when I am in the middle of playing somebody or a tournament. The altered state can help but more often it robs me of the competitive fire and subtly alters my perception. I get those can't make a ball blues too. Sending you a PM about a couple of things.

I read in another of your threads that you only play players better than yourself with the exception of one friend. Sounds like you may have lost sight of at least one of the reasons to play this game...having fun. Perhaps you should play someone near your average level of play simply for fun...no money involved. Perhaps spend more time feeling the nuances of speed, spin and hit rather than self-analysis and, by extension, criticism. Good luck.

My thoughts exactly Franky !! I always like to play better players, as it only helps my game. But sometimes I play equal or lesser players just for fun. I'm never gonna play pro level and I just accept that fact for what it is.

thats right and i have been playing good in vegas, infact better than normal, i didnt try to hard, i was playing the balls, i awalys have fun, i dont get to serious. I played there 2 night before that and played terrible, the tables are wet, didnt have my cue and i think i took to many muscle relaxors. all excuses, i was lost on that table,

the solution is I need to get my cue from vegas(its comming out on saturday) and I need to go play a few hours by myself and adjust to the wet tables and I'll be fine. who I was playing didnt affect me, I was embarassed sure, but the 2 nights before i played my friend who is a c-- player and played just as bad-he noticed it, we still had fun i gave him the 5 and lost 9-2, usally in there i beat him easily giving him the 5, we dont gamble, i haVENT PLAYED IN THAT ROOM IN 2-3 MONTHS.

it was just the different conditions, and not playing for a while, i didnt beat myself up over it-until i fell asleep perhaps the night mares wernt related. i am fully confident next time I play him I'll bring my game. Last time I played Tang Hoa I played great in that room but I was playing there often, I have been on dry diamonds in vegas, then comming to 4" wet GC's is a tough switch with a cue I only played with for an hour in my life. I'm not Bugs, i'm sensitive to equipment, years ago when I played on different equipment every week I could adjust, now I cant because I'm used to the same thing everyday and thats frustraiting, that's what caused the melt down. So "i'll be back"

thanks everyone for the replys, it means alot to me.
