I did some testing on the glues we build with.

With the advancement of adhesives, do you think it is possible to eliminate the "buzz ring" that has been a standard for 40+ years? There may already be an adhesive out there that makes the buzz ring obsolete. Keep looking, there is something out there.
I don't think it's the epoxy ( slow-setting ones ) as much as the technique.

EXACTLY! Tap tap brother:smile:

Remember they used to build houses with the most garbage nails you've every seen....many still stand today and are in better condition than homes much much newer. They had sturdier construction. Glue of anykind will never solve to effects of improper construction...at least not forever it will fail in some way at some point. I really don't think metal belongs there in the A joint in the first place.

i also think the buzz ring adds more to the cue then just the gluing. i think it adds a more consistant feel from cue to cue so you dont have to worry about crossing grain and some cues playing softer then others bc of grain on grain. makes your cues play more consistant.

just wondering has anyone done any tests using titebond 3 in an ajoint using a buzz ring. i know its a glue best for wood to wood but does it stick to phenolic. never tried it
